My brother asked my mom what Braxton-Hicks contractions were recently, and I answered him before she could. Of course, she had to ask me why I knew so much about pregnancy. These stories are the reason why.
Suggested by: three people, but it will only let me tag two.
Stay here, okay? I'll be right back, Sam wrote on his notebook. Dean nodded and cried out as another contraction hit. Sam rushed into the hospital, leaving Dean in the car. "Hi, my boyfriend is in the car, and he's in labor," Sam quickly said to the receptionist. She rolled out a wheelchair for Sam and told him they'd have a room set up when he gets in. Sam rolled the chair out to the car and helped Dean into it. Sam quickly wheeled him back into the hospital, where a nurse was already waiting for them. He took the chair from Sam and lead the way to the maternity ward. She and a doctor got Dean settled into a delivery room. The doctor brought in a translator so he could easily communicate with Dean and had a nurse call Dean's parents.
"Mr. Dean Smith, it looks like you're going to have a baby today," the doctor said. Dean gave him a small smile and nod, but it was obvious that he was scared. Sam reached over and gripped his hand. "I'm guessing you're the other father?" the doctor asked.
"Well," Sam began, perplexed on what to say, "Yes, yes I am." He looked at Dean and smiled slightly. The translator signed to Dean everything everyone was saying. When Dean realized what Sam said, tears filled his eyes. He squeezed Sam's hand as a sign of thanks.
A couple hours went by before Dean was almost ready to deliver the babies. Sam decided to call Charlie so she could come down to support Dean.
"What's up, Sam?"
"Hey, Charlie. I'm at the hospital with Dean—"
Sam was suddenly cut off by Charlie, who suddenly yelled, "What happened? Is he hurt? Is he okay? Is his baby okay?" she rattled.
"Yes, Charlie, calm down, he's fine. He's been in labor for the last couple hours, and he's almost ready to have the baby. If you want, you can come down."
"I'll be there in five minutes." The line went dead. Sam couldn't help but snicker at Charlie's actions. She truly cared about Dean.
Twenty more minutes passed. Sam and Charlie were both now anxiously waiting on either side of Dean. Each had one of his hands in their own. "The contractions are getting closer," Sam's voice was strained as he tried to counteract the pain Dean was causing by squeezing his hand. "It should be any time now."
"How do you know that?" Charlie asked.
Sam blushed as he realized what he'd just indirectly admitted to. "Look, I read a book about pregnancy after I started liking Dean, okay?" Charlie didn't reply. Instead, she smiled and shook her head slightly. The doctor came back in and checked on Dean.
"Alright, Dean, looks like it's time to push," the doctor directed. The translator quickly signed the doctor's directions, and Dean pushed.
"Okay, okay, almost there, I see the head. One more, big push."
Dean pushed harder, and the sound of a newborn's wailed filled the room. The sight of the newborn baby brought tears to Sam's eyes.
"It's a girl!" the doctor announced. The baby was wrapped in a blanket and given to Dean to hold for a few minutes before she was taken to be checked over and cleaned up. Charlie picked up the notebook.
What are you going to name her?, she wrote.
Dean wrote something and handed the notebook to Sam. Cassidy Marie?, Sam read.
He wrote back, Yes, I love it.
"What did he write?" Charlie asked Sam.
"Cassidy Marie," Sam replied.
"That's beautiful."
Soon after, they had Dean switch to a semiprivate room and allowed Cassidy to stay with him. Dean's mother walked into the room. "I missed it!" she said, obviously disappointed. She looked at Sam, "I wasn't allowed to come into the room. Can you believe that? They told me only two support people could be in the room with the patient at a time."
"That's horrible, they didn't even tell us, or one of us could've switched places with you."
She sighed and turned to Dean and sighed, "Are you okay, baby? I see you had Sam with you."
Dean blushed and signed back, "Yeah, mom, I'm okay. Sam's the best."
"What are they saying?" Sam whispered to Charlie, who was smiling at their conversation.
"Dean's okay, and his mom likes you a lot," Charlie whispered back. Suddenly, Sam's phone rang. He picked it up.
"Hey, mom."
"Sam Wesson, where are you?"
"I'm at the hospital with Dean. We were at his house when he went into labor. I've been here with him for the last ten hours."
"Okay, well, honey, it's past midnight. Can you come home? You can stay with Dean all day tomorrow, okay?"
Sam sighed, he really didn't want to leave Dean, "Fine, okay, mom." He hung up and picked up the notebook. I gotta go, he wrote.
Dean wrote back, Really?
Really. I'll be here all day with you tomorrow, though.
Okay... I'll miss you. Thanks for staying here with me.
There wasn't any other way I'd rather spend my day.
Sam stood up and quickly kissed Dean goodbye. "My mom called, and she wants me to come home. I'm going to be back tomorrow morning, though," he said to Charlie and Dean's mom.
"Bye, sweetheart. Thank you so much for being here for my son when I couldn't be. He really deserves a man like you in his life."
"Thank you Mrs. Smith, and it was absolutely no problem."
Charlie quickly stood up and enveloped Sam in a hug before he left.
