Makoto reluctantly got of the couch when there was a knock at the front door.  He hoped that whoever was knocking on their door at this late hour had something important.  Makoto was pleasantly cuddled up to Sousuke and he'd very much like to go back to that.  He got to the door, looking through the eyehole before opening the door, "Kagami?"

Kagami looked down at Makoto, scratching the back of his neck, "Sorry, it's late, I shouldn't have come.  I can see you're busy."

Makoto blushed, running a hand through his hair to make it lay down again.  "It's not like that..." he didn't know why he was explaining himself, he just didn't want his friend to think he'd interrupted a heated moment between Makoto and Sousuke.  He leaned closer to Kagami, reaching out to rest a hand on Kagami's arm, "Did something happen?"

"No," Kagami shook his head, "Not like how I came to you last time at this time of night."

"But something's wrong," Makoto stepped back, making room for Kagami, "Come in."

Kagami shook his head again, stepping back, "I shouldn't have come, I'm sorry."

Makoto reached out, grabbing Kagami's arm to keep him from running away.  "You came to me for a reason, now come inside."  He did his best to pull Kagami inside.  Kagami seemed to reluctantly shuffle his feet forward and walk inside with Makoto.

Makoto pulled him into the living room, Sousuke was still on the couch, looking a bit annoyed.  He'd turned off the TV, watching Makoto and Kagami walk in.  Kagami wouldn't sit down, he just looked back at Sousuke, "Sorry for bothering you guys."

Makoto pushed Kagami's shoulder, "Sit down, okay?"  Kagami seemed to slowly move to adhere to Makoto's words, sinking into the chair adjacent to the couch.  Makoto sat back down on the couch next to Sousuke, "When you left the cafe today, you seemed happy, what happened?"

Kagami swallowed, "I told Alex what I told you earlier and when she met Aomine, she brought it up."

"You told that to Alex?"  Makoto had to try his best to keep his jaw from dropping.  He just didn't think she and Kagami were very close from the things Kagami said about her.

"I shouldn't have told her, I know," Kagami clenched his jaw, turning his head to the side and away from Makoto's and Sousuke's eyes, "Aomine made his opinions on that very clear."

Makoto leaned forward, "Is that what this is about?  You fought with Aomine?"

"Wait," Sousuke looked between the two, brow furrowed, "What did you tell Alex that was so bad?"

"Sousuke!"  Makoto lightly jabbed Sousuke's side with his elbow.

"No, it's fine, everyone already knows," Kagami waved his hands melodramatically, "My boyfriend thinks I'm a slut.  Hell, maybe he's right."

Makoto immediately looked back at Kagami, his brow creasing, "Of course he's not right.  Don't believe him, okay?"

Kagami shook his head again, "No, I saw my ex today at my other job.  And I wanted to fuck him."

A silence hung in the air for a moment after Kagami's words.  Makoto tentatively asked, "Did you...?"

"Of course not," Kagami shook his head, leaning forward in the chair, hanging his head in his hands.

"Why are you here?"  Sousuke's words were surprisingly cold.  Makoto turned his gaze on Sousuke, doing his best to glare at him.  Sousuke sighed, adding, "I see you've got a lot of shit going on, but why did you come to Makoto right now?"

Kagami sighed, sitting up again, "Aomine and Alex are still at my apartment.  I can't go back there."

"Of course you should stay here," Makoto insisted before either of them could say anything.  Sousuke bit his lip, turning his head away from Makoto.

"No, I shouldn't have come tonight, sorry," Kagami was looking directly at Sousuke instead of Makoto.

Makoto shook his head, "Please stay."  He smiled, patting Sousuke's knee as he said, "We're happy to have you."  Sousuke could only nod.

Kagami smiled, dropping his gaze to the floor in front of him, "Thank you..."

[AN: I hope you like this update! It had been too long since I had some about Makoto and Sousuke, so I might have a few chapters about them for now? I dunno yet really 😆😅 thoughts?]
