"Tatsuya came over this weekend again."

Kagami's words hung in the air of the car as Alex drove him to school.  Kagami kept staring forward, clutching his backpack in his lap.  After a moment, Alex let out a long breath and said, "Your father told Tatsuya's father that you were no longer grounded so Tatsuya could come over again."

"Being grounded for another two weeks would've been better than what Tatsuya did yesterday." Kagami stared out the window, everything Tatsuya forced him to do flashing in front of his eyes.

"Taiga..." Alex's voice was quiet.

"You said Tatsuya wouldn't do anything to me again! You promised!" Kagami yelled, tears welling up in his eyes.

"Taiga-"

"You said you'd protect me!" Kagami yelled at the bag in his lap, tears streaming down his face now.

"I will talk to your father, make sure he understands." Alex reached out to touch Kagami's arm, but he shrugged away from her.

He finally looked up at her, "He won't. If he did, Tatsuya wouldn't have come back! Do you even believe me?"

"Of course I believe you." Alex stopped the car as they got to the school, turning to look at Kagami. "I know you wouldn't lie about it."

Kagami shook his head, "You don't believe me. You would've done something when you saw Tatsuya come over if you did." Kagami put his arm through the backpack strap and threw the car door open. "Leave me alone! I'll take care of myself!" Without waiting for Alex's response, he got out of car, slammed the door and ran into the school building.

[AN: oh this is just getting darker and darker isn't it? 😭 I'm sorry, poor Taiga! He manages in the rest of his life fairly well despite all of this... so I guess that's something? 😅 I hope you're liking it! I promise there will be more soon!]
