He spent hours walking around the mall.  Even after it closed, he ended up going to a movie that was playing at the theater.  He didn't even care what show he got a ticket for, he just wanted to stay out.  He decided that after this, he could look for a hotel to stay in or something.  It was already late and he wanted to sleep.

He walked out of the movie theater and instantly regretted it.  Alex was standing outside the entrance to the theater, staring at him with her arms crossed.  He turned to walk back inside, but Alex's words stopped him.  "Next time you want to run away, don't use your father's credit card to pay for everything.  Finding you wasn't even a challenge."

Kagami took his time, taking extra steps when he turned to face her.  "Do you think my dad cared more that I was gone or that I was wasting his money?"  Alex stayed quiet, giving Kagami his answer.  "Since he doesn't care about me, I might as well stay out here.  You can take the credit card back to him if that's what's bothering him."

Alex walked up to him, her arms falling to her sides.  She looked down at him, letting out a long breath.  "You know I can't do that.  Your father wants you home."

"So he can scold me and lock me away again?"  Kagami stared up at her.  He didn't believe a word she said.

"I want you to come home too," she knelt down so she could look at him eye to eye.  "I want to know that you're somewhere I can keep you safe.  I was so worried when I came to pick you up and you weren't at school."

Water was starting to well up in Kagami's eyes.  "Those are just words.  Nothing's going to change, things won't get better."

"They will, I promise."  She stood up, resting a hand on Kagami's shoulder, "Now let's go home."  Kagami looked down at the ground in front of them and nodded.  He knew he couldn't stay away forever, it was better to go home with Alex than to go home alone.
