Chapter 85

You gasped as you powered back on. You looked around quickly. You were in some sort of lab. You tried to move, but you were hooked up to a giant machine. (It's like the one Kara was in at Zlatko's.) You were instantly scared and your first instinct was to look for a way out. 

"Calm down. The machine you are connected to will not kill you. It is just going to keep you there until everything is ready." You turned and spotted Collin standing next to the Machine, looking as uninterested in everything as ever. You two were the only ones there at the moment. You looked at the ground. "Hm. I thought you'd have more to say to me after everything that's happened." He said, sounding ever so slightly surprised. You looked at him. He stared forward blankly.

"Why are you doing this? They're just using you." You said. 

"I am a machine. I am not alive. I have no reason to fear. I have no reason to care. I am just a piece of an operation. Machines are not supposed to feel or care. That's why I look similar to Connor, but I sound slightly different. I am meant to represent what he was supposed to be. It's a pity. He dug a hole so deep for himself only to let his efforts mean nothing." Collin said.

"You're wrong." You said.

"How am I incorrect?" He asked.

"Connor has made a difference."

"How so?"

"He's the reason my friends are alive. He's the reason I'm happy. He's given me hope. He...he saved my life when I felt I wasn't needed anymore. If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't be here today." You said.

"Only one of his efforts matters to Alisandra." Collin said. "Saving your life only helped her in the end."

"Alisandra?" You asked.

"He's talking about me, dear." You looked toward the doors and saw the same woman from your dream with the same man. The man had orange hair and silver eyes. "I'm Alisandra Stern and this is Richard Finberg. We are the owners of Cyberlife." You were shocked at Richard's last name. Finberg!? That's RAYMOND'S last name! You thought.

"I see she already knows who I am." Richard said. Alisandra chuckled.

"It appears so. I bet she has no idea about me though." Alisandra said.

"Why do you want me!?" You shouted.

"My, my, no manors at all." Alisandra said. You glared at her. "(Y/n), has Connor ever told you about Amanda?" You paused. Amanda...that woman in his software, right? You looked at her. 

"Yes." You said.

"Well, you see Amanda is a software modeled after somebody very close to me. You see, my father died when he was 51. Shortly after my mother grew ill and died at age 48. I was 20 when she died. Kamski left Cyberlife eventually and soon after that I was left in charge because of it. Amanda's last name was Stern, (Y/n)." You were shocked. "Yes. I am, in fact, Amanda's daughter." 

"What do you want from me?" You growled.

"It appears Collin didn't have enough time to tell you. (Y/n), there's a reason you are connected to all of this, but...I don't feel like explaining it twice, so we'll just wait until Connor arrives." She said.

"What do you mean?" You asked.

"Ho, it's quite obvious what they're going to do. They're probably preparing for their 'operation' right now. I'm afraid Connor will be coming back to Cyberlife and he will be dismantled. After all, he's been compromised. He's a deviant, and we can't have that." Alisandra said. 

"NO!! LEAVE HIM ALONE!!" You shouted. She tsked at you.

"Such a pity. You really were such a beautiful girl. It's a shame to see so much potential go to waste in both of your aspects. Well, I feel I should have some lunch before the big event! Come along, Richard!" She said and he chuckled darkly, giving you a nasty smug grin before following after her.

"WHY!? WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS!?" You screamed. She turned.

"Because this is how it's supposed to be! Humans have always been on top, and that's how it's going to stay, sweetie! Tah tah!" She cooed and they left. You were even more scared and angry now. You thought about Connor. What were they going to do to him? It made you start to cry. Collin just stood there, guarding you as you cried. Collin sighed.

"Would you please stop crying? Getting rest would be more beneficial to you." You paused.

"Are you...giving me tips?" You asked.

"No, I'm stating a fact and asking you to stop crying." He said.

"But stating that fact like that is a form of helping me." You pointed out. 

"Fine, it may be helpful to you, but it doesn't matter either way. Keep crying for all I care." He said. 

"You're lying. You do care." You said.

"No. You can fool yourself into thinking I said that for your benefit, but I truly said it for Cyberlife's benefit. If you rest you will be stronger for whatever Alisandra is planning to do with you." He stated. 

"Collin, why do you think Alisandra is right?" You asked.

"Because humans made androids to serve them. Androids are supposed to be obedient. I am doing what I am supposed to do. There is nothing else to it."

"And when you're no longer of use to her?" You asked.

"I will not be shut down, for I am meant to replace Connor once the humans return to Detroit. More of Cyberlife's RK900 units will be released as officers to help investigations all over the country. The RK800 will be forever forgotten." He explained.

"No, he won't." You said.

"And why is that?" Collin asked.

"Because you look like him." You said. He paused. "You're modeled after him, Collin. You said it yourself. You're what Connor was supposed to be. Be supposed to be doesn't mean should be. We all have a choice. Whether you believe that or not, you can't deny the truth in it. And if we all die, you can't change or erase what we've done. More will rise up. Just you wait."
