Connor's POV

I sat on the bed for about 5 minutes before my door opened. I looked up and I spotted Hank. I was surprised, but I didn't say anything, not really wanting him to see me like this.

"Connor? Are you okay?" He asked, shutting the door and walking over to me.

"You should be asleep, Lieutenant." I said.

"So should you, but instead on my way to get a drink I hear you screaming." He said. I didn't say anything. He sat down next to me. "Connor, what happened? I heard you scream (Y/n)'s name." He said. I tried to hold back my tears, but I couldn't.

"I-I was in the garden again. A-at first it was just Amanda mocking me, but then...then Alisandra was there. S-she killed (Y/n) right in front of me and then she killed me. A-as I was shutting down I could just hear everyone screaming. They were all crying for help or in serious pain. The last thing I heard was (Y/n) screaming my name louder than anything else." I whimpered. He grabbed me and pulled me into a hug. I latched onto him, seeking any comfort I could get.

"Connor, (Y/n) is gonna be fine. Alisandra is gone and so is Amanda. It was just a nightmare. They aren't there anymore." He told me.

"B-but it felt so real." I said.

"Don't they always." Hank sighed. "Listen, son, there's nothin' anybody can do about how long it's gonna take, but we're gonna get her back. It's gonna be alright." He told me.

"H-Hank...thank you f-for being here for me. I-I wish I could've helped you all those years ago with Cole." I said. He sighed.

"Well, nobody can help what happened to me. I thought I might as well make sure the same thing doesn't happen to you. Last thing we need is two grumpy assholes around." He said. I smiled a little.

"Hank, I'm proud to be your son. And I'm glad that you've accepted a role as my father." I told him. He smiled.

"As much as I hated it at first, there's no other android in the world I'd rather be partnered with, you big pain in the ass." He said. I chuckled.

"Thank you, Hank." I replied. "But I'm afraid (Y/n) is the android I'd choose to be partnered with." I added, trying to provoke a reaction.

"Aww, that's just cruel." He said with a tiny grin. I smiled with a small laugh.

"Well, it's a good thing you aren't an android then." He smiled.

"Yeah, I guess it is." He agreed. "Well, you gonna be alright for the rest of the night now?" He asked. I frowned a little.

"I-I think so. I just think it might take some time to get used to sleeping alone." I said. Hank thought about it.

"I'll be right back." He said. I waited for him to return. When he did, he had a stuffed animal with him. It was a blue dragon that was fairly big. It was about 2/3's the size of Sumo.

"What is that, Lieutenant?" I asked, confused as to why he had it.

"Now, I haven't ever told this to anybody let alone shown them I had it, but this belonged to Cole. It's...the one thing of his I couldn't find in myself to get rid of other than his picture." Hank said. I was shocked.

"Hank...you don't have to-"

"No. Connor, this is a special dragon. Look, when cole was 4, he begged me to get this for him. I gave in and I paid 50 dollars for this old thing. It's really well made and since we were at the mall, so of course the price was jacked up. Anyway, a few nights later I saw Cole playing with it. He was pretending to investigate the kidnapping of the royal princess of which this dragon was guilty. I watched as he played with it. And when he finished his game I heard him say that he wanted to be just like me when he grew up. He never let anything happen to this stupid stuffed reptile. I asked him why he was so careful with it since he had way more valuable and cooler toys. And he said because it reminded him of me. He said that dragons were strong and brave and that they were the coolest thing ever, just like me. Plus if they got angry they breathed fire which apparently also represented me. So, I kept it after the accident, because I could never forget how much it meant to him because it represented how much I meant to him." Hank said. I was stunned. "So, I figure it's only right to give it back to my son." I took it and I smiled. I hugged Hank.

"Thanks, Dad." I said.

"Don't mention it, son. Seriously. If you tell anybody I had a stuffed dragon, I'll come back and beat you with it." He said. I chuckled.

"I won't say a word." I told him. He smiled.

"Night, Connor."

"Goodnight, Hank. Thank you for this." I said. He smiled.

"Eh, what are dad's for?" I smiled as he left. He gave me one last smile before shutting the door and heading back to his room. Or to get a drink. Whichever he felt like doing. I looked at the stuffed dragon in my arms. I smiled. I hoped Cole was okay with me having it. I laid down and I held it close to me. I felt so much better having it with me. It wouldn't replace (Y/n), but it was now one of the things I treasured most. I would never get rid of it. I would keep it safe and protected for as long as I lived. I thought of what Hank said. It really was sweet how Cole had wanted to be like him. I thought so at least. The dragon symbolized how much Hank meant to Cole. I smiled more at the thought of what it meant now. It was now the symbol of how much Hank meant to me. It warmed my heart as I closed my eyes with a smile. Thank you, Dad.
