Stephanie Marie Foster was never really on time for things as she got up from her couch on her day off as a Police officer in Mission Bay and knew she had something planned, but could not fathom what she was forgetting.
She eyed her small two bedroom apartment and wondered what it was as her mom came in her front door with groceries for her daughter and her grandsons. "Hi mom," Stef replied as Sharon Cooper jumped scared.
"Sorry did I scare you mom?"
"You did and don't you have the tour at Anchor Beach for the twins for Kindergarten?" Sharon replied. "Which is why I'm here. The cable guy is coming."
Stef jumped up from the couch and eyed her mom. "THE TOUR IS TODAY!"
Sharon nodded as Stef went to change and was out the door in under three minutes as she flew to her car, started the engine and raced to Anchor Beach. Her baby boys are now five and will start Kindergarten soon as she thought where the time went and it has been two years since she left Mike Foster, her soon to be ex-husband and how she knew she hurt him by leaving him and especially since she's a lesbian and he didn't take it well.
She remembered the day so vividly as he started to laugh at her with what she said and how he looked hurt and upset after her realized she wasn't lying at all and was actually telling the truth. She caused him the hurt and pain and he started drinking and she stopped herself. It's not like she gave him the beer and put it down his throat.
But she did lie about being a lesbian and never told him and it was bad on her since she knew since she was a little girl and wondered what she was going to do with two sons on her own and how she was the one at fault. Lies cause problems.
"You knew and lied about being a lesbian? Mike asked upset as he bit his lip. "Just great."
"I'm sorry Mike," Stef replied. "I can't help who I am."
"But you can sure lie about it," Mike replied. "You lied and what about me and the boys?"
"I'm sorry," Stef replied again.
"I can't believe this, I can't," Mike said. "Well I will sue for custody since you lied to me."
Her mind focused and she had pulled into the school and parked her car and ran to find the office of Lena Adams, an elementary teacher and the one who was going to give the tour and she ran all the way and stopped in her tracks as her heart skipped a beat as she eyed the woman she saw years ago. "The black woman with the curly hair," Stef whispered as she knew it was instant love for her.
"Hi can I help you?" Lena Adams asked.
"I'm Stephanie Foster and forgot about my tour for my twin boys who turned five. I'm five minutes late and need to see Lena Adams."
"You are fine and I'm Lena Adams. We can start right now."
Stef grinned and nodded. "Everyone calls me Stef."
"Well right this way Stef," Lena replied. She eyed her and felt something for Stef as well, but didn't know what it was since Lena never doubted her sexual preference and was always in love with Robert and married him even if he did leave her for family. She could not be mad at him for that anymore. Seeing Stef, Lena felt different and started the tour.
Two hours later, "This school is great."
"Glad you like it and we prefer to have the twins in different classes," Lena replied.
"Oh. They never been alone," Stef replied. "They are in the advanced preschool at their current school."
"If they are in the advanced preschool, they will be in the advanced Kindergarten and will not have to be separated. We only have two advanced classes for each elementary class."
