Robert Leonard Quinn Jr., was at work as his phone rang at his job and he picked it up and spoke into the phone. "This is Robert Quinn Jr.. How can I help you?"
"Hi Robert. It's Andrew Fuller."
"Drew? How are you and how long has it been?"
"I'm good and well over ten years and we need to talk and catch up and it's bad news."
"We can met up at the coffee bar by my job. The High End Perk?"
"You got it and let's meet up for lunch?"
"You got it," Robert replied over the phone September 2nd as he ended the call and he wondered what his old mentor wanted and was curious as hell.
At the High End Perk, Robert Quinn Jr. got a table and waited for Andrew Fuller to come in as they both hugged and they both sat down. The older man eyed Robert.
"It's been a long time and is it bad?" Robert Quinn Jr. replied as his cell phone rang and it was Callie. "Hi baby buggy. I'm at lunch with an old friend. What's wrong?"
"Just to say that I love you."
"I love you too," Robert added. "And see you soon."
"Okay and by daddy," the girl replied. Robert ended the call and had a huge smile.
"Who was that?" Andrew asked.
"My daughter Callie, she's almost eleven and she's a triplet. I have two sons, Caleb and Callum with Lena. The kids are triplets."
"How is Lena?"
"Good and married to a woman. I left her and it's a long story and we never knew she was pregnant."
"WOW! When did you find out about them?"
"When they were four going on five," Robert replied. "And they are the best three kids ever and I can't have anymore kids since after I left Lena I was in a car accident and got sterile."
"Oh," he replied. "I'm sorry."
"Don't be. I have three kids with the love of my life and yes I still love her and she still loves me."
"Do you have a picture?"
"Yup. Here," he replied as he showed him a picture that was taken at the Zoo a few days earlier.
"They look like you and nothing like Lena, but she is half white."
"Yup and I'm full white."
The waiter came over and took their orders and they each got a sandwich, soup and salad with soda and baked chips.
"So what's up? I'm curious."
"You remember how you signed a contract for a year with the Peace Corps?"
"How could I forget? Lena and I did a year together. Why?"
"We have records of Lena doing a year, but not you."
"I don't understand."
"We have you down that you did six months."
"I did a year," Robert added as the food came.
"I believe you, but we don't have proof on our end," he said.
"Just great," Robert replied. "So what now?"
"You need to do the six months," Andrew replied.
"Serious Drew?" Robert asked.
"Yes I am," he said as he sighed. "I'm sorry."
"I have kids now," Robert added. "I can't leave for six months."
"It's that or jail," Andrew told him. Robert sighed. He knew when he was lost.
