Lena Adams Foster brought Jack to the park and he was crushed he had to leave, Cinnamon behind. "But mama I can take him to the park," he whined. "Why can't I?"
"Jane is allergic to pets, remember?" Lena asked as he nodded since he remembered.
"I forgot mama," Jack replied.
"That is one of the reasons we can't take her in. She is allergic to pets, Callie can't share her room, we aren't foster parents and we can't have another child on our budget," Lena replied as Jane came with a woman named Charlotte Burke.
"I'm Charlotte Burke. Jane's new foster care case worker. Her old caseworker told us you were willing to foster."
"Um no. This is just so Jack and Jane can meet. My wife and I aren't foster parents. Never have been and never will be. He told us of Jane's allergies and we have cats and dogs at home and nine kids and our only daughter can't share since she has four girls in her room whose parents are overseas," Lena told in a no nonsense tone.
"I can't believed he lied," she replied. "I will let my boss know."
"Hi I'm Jack," he replied.
"Jane. Why didn't your adopted parents adopt me too?"
"They had a set of twins already and they each had a cat and dog," Jack replied.
"Oh," Jane said. "It sucks I can't go to your home to see you."
"Sorry but we all have pets and my sister has friends in her room till their parents get back home," Jack replied. "I have a dog. Her name is Cinnamon."
"I see," Jane said. "Want to play?"
"Sure," Jack said as they ran off to the play structure.
"So would your kids consider giving their pets away?"
"No and my wife and I don't want to be foster parents and we don't have the room and can't afford another child or upgrade to a new car."
"Just needed to ask," she replied. "She's been in the system since she was three hours old."
"Well I know Jackson Owens," Lena said. "We grew up together along with Robert Quinn Jr."
"I know Robert," Charlotte said.
"We used to be married and we have triplets together. Two boys and a girl, but they look like him."
"I met them. Are you half?"
"Yes," Lena replied as her cell phone rang. "In an hour baby girl."
"Okay bye mama," Callie said.
"I think your daughter would benefit having a girl who age," Charlotte replied as Lena got mad.
"That's it!" Lena replied. "JACK!"
"Yes mama?" he asked. "Is it time to go?"
"Yes," Lena replied. It was only thirty minutes and Jack knew it was bad. Jane was confused and Charlotte was shocked. "I didn't mean anything."
"Didn't mean anything? You have been hinting to take her. My wife and I don't want to be foster parents. We can't afford another child, my daughter's room is not an option at all and she is allergic to pets."
"I just," Charlotte replied.
"No. I'm done," Lena said. "Do you have children?"
"Yes," she replied.
"If you were in my shoes what would you do?" Lena asked.
"The same thing," she replied. "I'm in a bind with her."
