Jackson Owens got up to his feet as a knock was heard and his assistant, Jan North came in with Eric Potter Sr. behind her. "Hello Mr. Potter. I'm sorry about your loss and come in."
"Thank you and why I'm I here?" he asked. "I left my kids to grieve at home for their mama."
"This is about Ben and Tristan Potter Novak."
"What about my ex wife's kids her wife had?"
"We try to go to family to take them in," he replied.
"Wait? What? You want me to take them in?"
"Yes," Jackson Owens replied. "Can you?"
"No. Those two are allergic to rodents and my two youngest have rodents and I will not be like their mama who took their rodents away for Ben and Tristan. I feel bad, but I have kids to send to college and  no room. Each of my kids has their own room. And they got passed their mom cheating on me with Abigail and I won't bring up bad memories."
"It's just," Jackson replied.
"Do you have kids Mr. Owens?"
"I do," he replied.
"If you were in my shoes what would you do?"
"I would decline," he replied.
"This isn't that I'm still mad and hurt at Bethany. But I will not hurt my kids by taking something away from them. They lost their mom already and I think that's enough. We lost her twice."
"Fair enough. I feel for these boys."
"I do too," he replied. "But I will not take them in at my own kids I chose to have."
They both got up and shook hands and Eric Potter Sr. left to go.
Jan North was quick as she ran in. "Hi Speedy Gonzalez."
"Well?" she asked.
"He declined. He has five kids to worry about and the two youngest have rodents that he doesn't want to get rid of."
"They are allergic to rodents?" she asked. "That bites and sucks."
"And Bethany Potter Novak doesn't share DNA with Ben and Tristan. Abigail gave birth to them."
"Ben Novak Jr?" she asked as he nodded.
"He is our last hope and I don't feel optimistic."
"Why not?" she asked.
"He is married and has eight kids. Two of those kids are twins and the bio kids of Abigail."
"Those two moms gave up on their kids. It sucks. But I hope they can take them in. But eight is a lot."
"Is he here yet?"
"Parking and he brought his wife Leslie."
"Good and I'd like to met her," Jackson replied as Jan walked out of his office to her desk.
Ten minutes later, Jan North knocked and came in first followed by a white guy and a black women.
"I'm Jackson Owens. I'm sorry about your loss."
"Thank you," Ben Sr., added. "I'm Ben Novak Sr."
"I'm Leslie Novak," she said. "What's this about?"
"Les?" Ben asked.
"Well?" she asked.
"You are Ben and Tristan's only hope."
"If we decline? What happens?" Ben asked.
