Daphne and Kiara Lawson sighed. They were going to age out of the system in a year and what then? How would they survive? What can they do? Why didn't their family want them? Why didn't Lena and Stef Adams Foster not want them? Why was it so bad to be born black? Daphne replied as she eyed her younger twin sister, Kiara. They were both in a group home for kids who are good and needing families.
"What about us?" Daphne asked out loud.
"Why not us?" Kiara asked. They were at the age where they needed and wanted a family. They felt hurt and upset. They wished they were white and maybe they would get a home. It seemed white was best and gave the best opportunities in life. They were ashamed to be black at times and it sucked as hell.
Their thoughts went to Callie Elizabeth Adams Foster. They hated her and her life. She had the mama they always wanted, the family they always needed, but she was born looking white along with her two womb mates, but they were the biological children of Lena Adams Foster who was a half black and half white and had an ex-husband who was a white man, but Lena didn't care if her bio children came out white. They were her babies.
Rita Hendricks, came to visit Daphne and Kiara. "Any news?" Daphne asked.
"The family declined. Their children um aren't leaving to go college after all. They will be going to college and living at home."
"Figures," Daphne replied. "What about us?" she asked as Rita felt sorry for them.
"I'm sorry girls. But I need to go back to Girls United," she told them as they both nodded, got up and hugged her tight as she left. Girls United was for girls who got out of juvie for serious offences and since their record was expunged, they were safe, but in three months, they would age out of the system and it was hard to find them a home, for the mere fact they were black teens. It was all about the skin color and no lone looked beyond the color of a person's face and they think all black people are bad news. They don't look past their files either.
Lena Adams Foster took some things to Haven Group Home and walked in and she felt like she walked into the past as she eyed Daphne and Kiara. She eyed them and they eyed her as she went to find the Coordinator, Ashley Miles. What they tried to do to her baby girl was cruel and heartless.
"I'm Ashley Miles. You must be Lena Adams Foster? How can I help you?"
"I'm here to drop off some things for the kids," Lena replied. "My homeroom did a fundraiser and we got lots of things for the coed group home."
"Thank you and are you a foster parent?" she asked.
"No. My wife and I have nine kids and no room and we can't/don't want to be foster parents. We also both work full time and can't offer anything to foster kids."
"I have two girls who have been here for a while. Daphne and Kiara Lawson."
"I know them. They tried to kidnap my daughter," Lena added. "And they were sent to juvie."
"What?" Ashley asked. "WOW! I never knew that and if that's true they can't be here. This group home can't have kids from juvie at all."
"Um I got to go," Lena replied. "My former husband will come with other stuff."
"Who?" she asked.
"Robert Quinn Jr., we have triplets together that look like him, but they are my bio babies," she told the woman. Ashley nodded and called Jackson Owens.
"They are there?" he asked. "What?" he asked shocked. "They can't be there because of their record."
"Well they are," she replied. "Lena Adams Foster came with free things and they saw each other. And I never saw a record."
