It is February 1st and Lena and the triplets were alone at home since the other Adams Foster kids had plans and Callie's friends were back home with their moms and dads who came back from overseas. The triplets were a tad bit bored and Lena understood them since she was bored as well. She saw them in the family room as they watched cartoons and after an hour they turned it off and went to their rooms to play or read.
Papa Thomas, Nate and Timothy left to Yellowstone the day before and would be gone till Sunday night since the two youngest men have to work on Monday. Frank and Sharon were in Julian, while Dana and Stuart are in Los Angeles and Raquel and Robert Sr. are in Colorado at a Ski Resort and they took Samson Harris and Ruthie Quinn for the adventure.
It seemed all their family had plans, except them as they were in their rooms bored out of their minds. The triplets decided to go out and play with their dogs. Lena eyed them from the master bedroom window and felt bad.
In his room in his home, Robert Quinn woke up with no plans either and sighed. He looked over at the empty side and envisioned Lena there beside him as he got up and went to take a shower and got dried and dressed. He was bored out of his mind and debated if he should call Lena since she might have plans with her kids. He would always feel regret leaving her as he did and if he did not they would have raised the triplets and the little twins together since Robert, Lena, as well as Jenna and Kelly were good friends.
He called her number and she picked up on the first ring. "Hi Robert," Lena replied as she smiled. "What's wrong?" she asked.
"Um I woke up and I'm bored. My parents and grandparents are gone. I sound hopeless right?" he asked as she laughed and he laughed too. "I guess I am hopeless."
"Well it just so happens, that me and the triplets are bored out of our minds. All of the rest of my sons are out till Monday morning and Callie's friends are gone till June 1st. They left last night."
"How about a family weekend. Just us five?" he asked. "We need to have fun too."
"Yes," she replied. "I will get the triplets ready and where are we going?"
"Santa Monica," he said. "They have kid friendly activities and attractions and we can get breakfast at Molly's Diner and Buffet there."
"Sounds like a plan," Lena replied. She ended the call and told the triplets to get ready as Robert came fifteen minutes later and the kids were all smiles and excited as they hugged their daddy and all five of them left to their start their adventure. It felt right to take a family trip together.
To the naked eyed, they looked like the average interracial family. A half black half white mother, a white father and three white kids who look like their father. But to all who knew them, they were just a picture of what should have been or could have been if Robert never left his wife.
Lena got in the front and the triplets got in the back of their dad's new Expedition and they each had their IPODS on as they put the ear buds in their ears and relaxed in their seats and Callie clutched Mrs. Lamb.
Lena felt like she was cheating on Stef by just being with Robert with the triplets, as she bit her lip as Robert left the Adams Foster home as they went toward Santa Monica as he grinned wide. she felt bad as she was here with her former husband and their three kids they made, while her wife was in Turkey for all of them.
"Daddy what is Molly's Diner and Buffet like?" Callie asked.
"Better than Golden Corral," he said as Caleb eyed him in shock. He could not believe it.
"But nothing is better than Golden Corral dad," Caleb added in a whine as Lena eyed him and gave him a stern look. When Caleb whined, he whined.
"Well this place is and where me and mama went on our first date."
