She didn't care what anyone thought as Stephanie Marie Adams Foster went back to work and she needed to go back to work. She felt bored and useless at home and it was killing her inside to feel that way. It was a month after the undercover mission and a Friday night at dinner as the kids ate pasta, wings and salad.
"So um babies I have something to say," Stef replied. "I talked with mama about what I'm about to tell you. It is important."
AJ eyed her. "You aren't going back to work so soon right? It's been a month."
Stef eyed him shocked and remembered he is the son of a late FBI officer. All the other kids eyed her. "Mommy?" AJ asked.
"Yes I'm going back to work," Stef replied.
"Isn't that kind of soon?" the older twins replied. "It's been a month."
"I need to work and it's been thirty days."
"Thirty three," the younger twins replied.
"Yup since I start on Monday," she said. "Smart boys."
"YOU CAN'T GO BACK! YOU NEED MORE TIME MOMMY!" Callie yelled and screamed as she ran out the backdoor as both moms sighed and ran after her, but she was fast.
"She might be on Cross Country or Track once she starts middle school," Stef joked.
"Robert and I were on Cross Country and Track in middle school, high school and our university days," Lena remarked. Stef eyed her in a why am I not shocked look as they went to find their little girl.
"Is it too soon?" Stef asked.
"For me it might be, but I'm not you," Lena replied. "But this is your life and you were a cop before we met."
Callie was in her brand new tree house and burst into tears. Mommy can't go back what if she gets hurt again? the girl asked. She didn't have an answer to her question.
"Where can she be!?" Lena asked. They looked in the cottage, the garage attic, her room, her playroom, the family room and the den, the indoor play area and no baby girl.
"Do you think she went over to Lexi's again?" Stef asked.
Lena eyed the tree house and smirked. "The tree house."
"I will climb and you might get hurt," Lena said. The blonde nodded as her wife went up the steps to their daughter's new tree house which was a gift from her nana and granddaddy as Lena was inside and sighed a huge sigh of relief. She even had one at her daddy's and her paternal grandparents home too. Caleb and Callum had shared ones.
She caught her breath and spoke. "Baby girl?"
Callie turned and put her Barbie doll down and got up from her spot on the floor and walked over to her scared and worried mama. Her mama's looks gave her away as her baby girl looked scared.
"I'm sorry mama," Callie said. "I'm scared and worried. What if mommy gets hurt again?"
"Oh baby girl. Come here," Lena replied as she sat on the floor and her daughter came over and sat on her lap as her mama held her chin and looked into her own eyes her daughter and her two sons inherited from her.
"Mommy will be fine," Lena replied. "She's a big girl and she takes many precautions."
"I know and the training," Callie said. "I'm still scared though."
"It is alright and understandable."
"I still remember Uncle Aaron and Auntie Hailey. They got hurt."
"But not on the job though," Lena reminded her. "But this is still not okay to come up here without permission."
