A Different Way To Finding Each Other

Lena's Best Friend

Lena opened the door to her home as she eyed Gretchen Harper on the other side as they both smiled wide and hugged each other. "A lesbian?" Gretchen asked.

"No. Bi," she replied. "I'm not full."

"So who left who?" she asked.

"Robert left me for a huge misunderstanding," Lena replied. "But we have reconnected and we have kids together."

"But you aren't married anymore?" she asked. "Do you still love him?"

"I do, but that ship has sailed," Lena lied. In fact, they still made love when they were in the same city or if Stef is out on a case. 

"You have kids with him? How many?"

"Three. Two boys and a girl," Lena replied. "They will be eleven in six months. They are triplets."

"Triplets. Was that why he left?" Gretchen asked.

"No and it's a long story and after he left was when I found out I was pregnant with my three baby bugs."

"Why didn't you tell him?"

"I'm not that type of woman," Lena replied. "Plus I met Stef when the triplets were two."

Gretchen nodded as Dana came in and eyed her and made a face. "Hi Dana."

"Hi Gretchen," Dana replied. "How's Italy?"

"Good, but I missed the USA," she replied. "How are and Stuart?"

"We are good," Dana added. "I'm off to pick up the kids from their play dates."

"Thank you mama," Lena replied as her mama nodded and left.

One hour later, all the kids ran in. "Hi mama," her six oldest replied.

"Hi my babies," Lena added. She remembered the triplets were still at school and Stef was picking them up since they were all in Art Club. 

"Babies this is one of my friends from the University, Gretchen Harper."

"Hi," the boys replied as they eyed her in a weird way. 

"Why hasn't she visited before?" AJ asked a tad bit curious.

"I was in Italy since I graduated the University," Gretchen added.

"Oh," AJ replied as Lena gave him a silent warning look.

"Chores and homework," Lena replied as the kids nodded and it was a Monday.

Thirty minutes later, the triplets came home with their mommy as she parked the car in the driveway and they all walked in through the garage.

"Hi mama," her two bio boys replied.

"My boys. How was Art Club?"

"Great and we got to make a drawing of our family and we did a combined extended one," the boys said. "Who is she?"

"This is my best friend from the University."

"Hi," the two boys replied.

"Gretchen these are my two biological sons, Caleb and Callum."

"Hi," Gretchen replied as she eyed Robert's carbon copies as Stef and Callie walked in.

"Hi I'm Stef and you must be Gretchen?"

"I am and you must be Stephanie?"

"I am and you can call me Stef," she replied as Callie eyed Gretchen up and down. Her daddy told her that Gretchen liked him and he never liked her at all.
