Breathing out heavily Kaila looked up at the ceiling watching as the mobile over her head spun and spun playing a little melody as it did so.

"What am I doing?" She whispered to herself angrily.

She twisted and turned trying to clear her head, but no matter what she did, she couldn't.

"Why are you going along with everything? You don't know them, they've kidnapped you, and you need to get back to your life. But why are they so difficult to leave?! My legs work just fine and yet I let them carry me! Why?! I don't have to listen to them, and yet I took the punishments from them! What's going on with me?! Why am I liking this as much as I am?! I shouldn't be, I shouldn't be enjoying my captors company, shouldn't be listening to them, and shouldn't be going on with all of this shenanigans! And yet I am? Why? Why me of all people? Their so rich and they have connections, why wouldn't they pick someone else. Someone not me. What am I going to do when I see them in the morning, will I even stay til morning? Am I going to listen and obey them? Or can I build up the courage to leave? Why do they have to make it so hard on me?! They've been so nice and scary at the same time, but I can tell their nice too behind that scary mask."

Her thoughts went and she rambled on and on to herself trying to think things through. One day was all it took, one day to change her life.

Twisting over to her side, she looked out the window watching as the stars in the night time sky twinkled and the moon shone down on her.

'I mean...it wouldn't be so bad staying here, would it?'

Her thoughts went back and forth, one telling her to get up and leave, and the other telling her they're here to keep her safe.

Eventually her sleep caught up to her and sent her into the darkness.

Forgetting Lain and Mallix's talk with her before putting her to bed, Kaila had spoke out loud a little too loud. Everything she said echoed into the baby monitor a few feet away from her crib.

Back in their room, they listened to everything Kaila was saying. It was hurting their hearts seeing how hard this was for her to accept it all.

"It's alright babe, she just needs time. It's only her first night with us after all." Mallix told his wife holding her close seeing tears falling.

"I just want her to be happy with us already." She cried out into her husbands shoulder.

"I do too babe, but for now we've made some progress. We just got to hold out a little longer." He kissed her head as he laid down with her and they both remained quiet the rest of the night.

"Uh...h-hello?" Kaila's voice rang through the baby monitors.

Seeing as Lain had a rough night she was still out cold, Mallix on the other hand was already up getting some work in.

Upon hearing his baby's voice he got up and went to her. He walked into her room seeing her kneeling down holding her blanket in one hand as she yawned. Her bed hair was all over the place and a little line of drool went down her chin.

"Good morning precious" he opened her bedroom windows allowing natural lighting to wake her up. "How'd you sleep?" He asked up against the gates to he cage bopping her nose in between bars.

She stretched and yawned as she nodded over to him. "I'm going to take that as a good." He laughed to himself.

"Here you go" he unlatched the locks on the gate and lowered it down. "Come here" he opened his arms to her.

She easily got into them, dropping the blanket, and allowed him to carry her out and place her onto the floor.

"Go ahead and play for a while sweetie, I'm going to go wash up before making some breakfast." He said as he walked out.

Kaila looked around the room seeing little toys every here and there. One of which was a jack in the box. She crawled over to it, still to tired to use her legs and spun the crank.

She bounced lightly listening to the nursery rhyme it played, then all of a sudden pop! Jack came out of the box arms high in the air. She couldn't help but laugh.

After some struggle of pushing him down and keeping him there as she closed the top, she eventually reset the device and proceeded to repeat that several times. Each time she found it more funny than the last.

After much deliberate thinking Kaila finally decided to at least give this a try. Even for a day, and today was that day. She wasn't going to fully give in to them yet, but she certainly wanted to understand this more.

Behind her she heard a mumbled coo. Turning around she saw Lain standing in the doorway watching her play. "Is that fun baby?"

Kaila blushed, embarrassed to be caught playing with the toy. Cautiously she nodded returning to her game and watching Jack appear again only to disappear only a few seconds later.

Lain took a seat besides her and while Kaila played she brushed away baby hairs from in front of her face. "Thanks" Kaila shyly said sending Lain a small smile.

"Y-your welcome baby" Lain said slightly surprised by Kaila's easy mood this morning. 'What is she up to?' Lain questioned her motive.

Kaila happily smiled passing over the box to Lain to try. Looking up at her baby and back at the box she decided to give it a whirl. She twirled around the handle listening to Kaila hum and bounce to the melody.

Pop! He came out and Kaila once again giggled at the games antic.

"Are you feeling ok baby?"

"Uh huh, I feel ok."

"You sure? Cause yesterday I had to fight you to do anything I said, but today your having fun with a toy."

"I..." Kaila looked down ashamed.

"What baby?"

"I...I wanted t-to t-try this with you guys. You did have a point when you talked to me about this, being able to be carefree certainly was better than barely making by with minimum wage." She confessed her voice cracking midway from the tense topic.

"Oh cutie," Lain smiled bigger than ever, leaning in she hugged Kaila tightly, "thank you for giving this a try. It means so much to me. That's all I want is for you to try."

Hearing just how happy Lain was from Kaila's decision, she couldn't help but feel good. The butterflies in her tummy reappeared as she smiled.

'Maybe I did make the right choice.'
