....

Concubine Bai and Concubine Mo lived in the second shop house.
Murong Ci stood at the door of their house, fainted by the strong smell.

The strange smell was a mixture of the smell of mold, human garbage and rancid food left uncleaned, that hovered there for a long time.
By all the three walls of the shop house there were stoves with straw mat as a berth.

Louses, cockroaches and rats could be seen everywhere.
As a beam of sunlight leaked from the roof tiles, dust and dirt particles could be seen fly freely.
Chaos, dirt, filth all over the floor.
A pigsty could be regarded as several times cleaner than here...

Murong Ci's eyebrows frowned deeply, Qin Ruo couldn't help covering her mouth and nose with a veil, and Madam Li glanced at His Royal Highness in shock, with her limbs trembling with a guilty conscience.

"This humble servant will tell the Palace people to clean up...
This humble servant will never dare to be lazy again...
I beg Your Royal Highness for mercy."
She bowed down and chattered endlessly for mercy.

Murong Ci couldn't help but feel annoyed,

"Where are the bunks of Concubine Bai and Concubine Mo?"

Madam Li walked in neatly and pointed to two empty bunks.
Qin Ruo reminded:

"Your Royal Highness, be careful."

Murong Ci walked in, covered her mouth and nose with a silk cloth, and looked at the two bunks.

The gray-black sheets were piled on the straw mats, covered with soil, dust and ashes.
There were traces of red liquid and mottled old make-up on the wall.
The make-up was empty.
It must have been robbed by the people here...

'There is nothing else.'

She looked closely, and she didn't see any dark red blood traces.

Qin Ruo took a wooden stick and stirred up the shabby quilt, but there was still nothing.
Standing in front of the stove, Murong Ci raised her hand to give a signal to Qin Ruo.

Qin Ruo pinched a long hair from under the thin quilt, just like the silver gray hair she got yesterday.

'Concubine Bai and Concubine Mo had both black hair.'

....

Finally, Madam Li respectfully sent away the Crown Prince, and the tight string finally loosened.

A pair of eyes hidden in a dark corner stared at the figure of the Crown Prince walking away from the Courtyard road.
Those eyes squinted darkly.

....

Back in the East Palace, Qin Ruo saw that His Highness had been in a daze in the study for half an hour, and couldn't help but ask:

"Your Royal Highness, what have you found?"

"Concubine Bai and Concubine Mo should have been picked up from their bed by the murderer in the middle of the night, and then drained of blood."
Murong Ci stared at the two similar silver gray hairs on the cloth.
Her eyes condensed.

"The murderer was from the Spring Wuyuan Courtyard?"

"Should be."

"Do the deaths of Concubine Bai and Concubine Mo have anything to do with what happened in the past few days?"
Qin Ruo became more confused as she thought about it.

Murong Ci did not answer her question, staring at the two silver gray hairs with her eyes as clear as a cold spring in the mountains.

....

The Palace under the curtains of the dark night was like a huge beast left in a fake sleep of hibernation.
Everything was quiet, like death.

*Boom, rumble, boom, rumble*

Shocking thunders rolled from the horizon, and lightnings smashed from the sky, slyly spreading their flashy branches like teeth and claws.

The dark night instantly blew violent winds, and thunders continued to bombard, as if to awaken the sleeping beast.
The thunderbolts of rage seemed to tear the sky apart.

Not long after, the rain poured down like fried beans, and the rainstorm hit crackling.
There was some movement in the huge Palace.
Some people got up and closed the windows, some turned over and continued to sleep, and some hid in the corner shivering.

The thunderstorm lasted for more than an hour.
The sky was bright, and the Palace staff woke up to go serve their masters.

A house attendant walked briskly in the drizzle with a Palace umbrella, rushing to send the rose dew that the Imperial Concubine Xiao had requested for the Imperial Palace, Qingluan Hall.

Suddenly, the servant stopped and stared at the Magnolia Kobus tree on the left side of the Palace road.

"WHAT--?!"
The man screamed in horror, and his scream pierced the hastily silky rain.
