"Are you okay?" Lucas asked.
"Of course not," she answered. "I just had sex with a man you guys injected!"

"What?" Lucas gasped.
"Wait, does that mean I'm infected too?"
"I'm not sure but it's not yet developed in Jason's body so it's not contagious yet but you should refrain from that."
"So, he's dying?"
"Technically, yes."
"How long does it take for the virus to be real?"
"At least, a month."

"Is there a cure?" She asked with hope.
"It's still in process. It's not ready yet."
"So, you let them inject Jason without having a cure?"

"Tess, it was done before I got back from our meeting. When they were carrying him out, that's when I saw him. I had no idea."

"Lucas!" A feminine voice called.
"Oh no."
"Who's that?"
"That's Fei," he answered.
"Who's Fei?"

"Fei! I'm in the shower!"
"Okay, you were taking too long so I wanted to check if you're okay."
"Thanks!"

"Who's the girl?" Tess asked.
"Jia Fei. She's a Chinese lady. She's a hacker."
"How many of you are here?"
"Three."
"Who's the third?"
"Han Tae-ho."
"Mateo?" Tess raised an eyebrow.
"Tae-ho," he corrected her. "He's Korean. He's the scientist. He's Fei's boyfriend."

"What's he trying to do? Trap everyone from the Asian continent here?" Tess scoffed.
"How's Luke?"
"Annoying as always," Tess shrugged.
"You really need to start leaving."

"Lucas, please, work hard on the cure as fast as you can. We're gonna bust this place soon and I need Jason to be alive."

"I'll inform Tae-ho. Tess, whatever you do, trust nobody. Your dad has contacts everywhere. I mean, everywhere."

"I know that," she patted his back as she wore her cap.
"Good luck."

She slipped the door open gently and went back the way she came. She was in the elevator when Caleb's voice came in.
"Boss! Can you hear me?" He said frantically.
"Yes I can hear you."
"I've been trying to reach you!"
"Cool your toots, I'm coming," she chuckled.

"He's coming!"
"Who's coming?"

"Mr. Harvey!" She got out of the elevator.
"He just drove in. I've been trying to tell you that he cancelled his flight but I lost connection."
"I'm coming, get the car ready."

She walked up the stairs quickly and faced another problem.
The secret door was locked and she had no idea how to open it. She turned on her pocket torch to look for clues.

A button.

She pushed it and the door slid open. "Thank you baby Jesus," she whispered and ran silently to the main door.
"Is anyone near the door?" Tess asked Caleb.
"James is approaching the front door."

She walked down into the kitchen and crouched down.
The door opened and James whistled his way up.

Tess took that opportunity and slipped out of the house. Mr. Harvey was walking to the back of the house and she ran out of the compound.

"Let's go," she opened the door and buckled herself.
"Thank God," Caleb stepped on the accelerator and they left.

The next morning.

"Wake up," Jason shook Luke.
"You're up already?" He yawned.
"Yeah, you need to go to work."
"I can't leave you alone," he sat up and stretched.
"I'll be discharged at noon and Tess will probably be here by then."

"Unless she doesn't," Luke stood up. "It's unlike her to not call since that fight."

"I guess she really is angry."

"You're the new Scott in her life. Don't blow it."
"The new Scott?" Jason asked.
"Yeah, Scott. Her best friend and her first love. Well, maybe ex best friend."

"What happened between them?" Jason was filled with curiosity.
"If you're that curious, ask her yourself."

"Last night was amazing!" Caleb shouted in front of the team. "You shoulda seen it! She moved like a spy and glued herself to the wall. It was like I was in Mission Impossible!"

"You've said that a million times since you arrived," Eva groaned.
"It's not your first time going on a covert mission, right?" Diana said from her computer.
"Of course not. It's just my first one with a lady," he said dreamily.
"Good morning," Tess said as she walked in.
"I'll prepare for briefing," Eva stood up.
"No, not now. I have to get to the hospital first."
"Okay."
"What's that?" David asked Tess.
"What? Where?"
"On your neck," he walked closer. "Did you get hurt?"

Her hickey.
"There's nothing wrong with her neck," Eva came to her rescue and pushed her outside.
"You're welcome," Eva winked.

"Guess she's still mad at me," Jason muttered as he wore his shoes.
The door was opened and she entered silently.
"Hey," Jason smiled widely.
"Are you ready?" She was wearing a grim face.
"Yeah," he stood up.
"Let's go."

They drove in silence as Jason stole glanced at her.
"Say your mind," Tess said suddenly.
"I'm sorry about yesterday."
"Okay," she replied.
"Okay? That's it?"
"What else should I have said?"
"I'm sorry."

They were going silently when Jason said, "Can you tell me about Scott?"

Tess slowed down a bit and faced him.
"How do you know Scott?"

He looked uneasy.
"Um.. I heard about him from Luke."
"Why do you want to know about him?"

"No reason, I just wanna know."

"He was my best friend. We've been together since we were kids. The first man I ever loved. We were together for a year. Breaking up didn't affect our friendship. He started dating Ivy, a friend of mine. Then, he said his feelings for me never changed. Well, Luke found that out. Then, Ivy made him drunk, recorded of him talking about the first time we had sex and spread the video. I took it down but people had seen it already. As if that wasn't enough, his mother had been injecting my mom with a weird drug that made her memories scrambled. She was working for my father. I left New York for Texas and never heard from any of them."

"You've had a painful past."

"Yeah, I wanna tell you something. I need you not to freak out."
"What is it?"

Tess stopped in front of the company.
"It's about your recent health issue."
"You found out what's wrong with me?"
She nodded.
"You're infected."

"Infected?" He chuckled. "With what?"
"A virus my father's creating."
