Jada~
Opening the small box filled with a couple of dresses that I had Camille send from LA since I didn't think to bring date-worthy clothing to Milwaukee. I wasn't expecting to go on a date so I don't pack that kind of clothing.
I put both dresses on a hanger so they can flatten out throughout the day. Christian won't tell me anything about later tonight so I'm left guessing. I'm not going overboard but I would just like to know the plan if there is one.
Camille calls me as I set my curling iron on the counter. I set my against the mirror and answer her, "Date night, right?" she asks.
"Yeah. I just set out my dresses."
"Where's he at?"
"At his game. We'll leave shortly after he gets back."
"Dinner?"
"Yeah. I don't know where though. He won't tell me anything."
I spray my roots with dry shampoo and brush them out before spritzing my hair with a heat protectant. I section my hair in half and pin the top half up. "What dress?"
I turn to look at them, "I don't know yet. I think his favorite color is red but I love the black dress."
"I think he'll love either one. I personally, like the red one."
I smile and nod. "You seem nervous," she tells me.
I nod again as I take a small section of hair and pull it through the iron, "I feel more nervous than I did with Cody. But it's a good nervous, you know?"
She smiles, "I think you've been waiting for this night for so long that once you get to dinner or when he comes back from his game, every ounce of nerves will go away."
"I just want it to be perfect."
"Look, as much as I wanted you to wait to date, I think you have nothing to worry about. I mean, come on, it's Christian. You gush about him over text."
"He's just so different than Cody. They kept saying that I was different but I think the difference was between them."
"How do you mean?"
"Cody and I couldn't communicate with each other about anything. When Christian got back, I told him that my dad wanted to meet him. He asked if it was just my dad or if that included Michelle, Lizzie, and Carter. It'll probably be just my dad but he had asked about Lizzie and Carter and he sat there and listened to everything. I got everything across to him in one sitting. I don't have to remind him about anything. He sits there and listens to me and doesn't interrupt or ask anything until I'm finished. Genuinely, I don't know how I had missed that."
"Because you were never able to spend days on end with him. Because you were in LA with Cody while he was in Milwaukee."
"It's not that Cody didn't do any of that, because he did. He was good about listening but when it came to topics about Christian and him cheating, he didn't want to talk. He didn't want to listen."
I keep curling sections of my hair, "Him and Corey are a lot alike."
"For starters, they're both good guys who don't cheat."
She laughs, "That wasn't my point, but yes, that is true."
I smile, "I don't know. I'm nervous for the right reasons and maybe the wrong ones too."
"What do you mean by that?"
"That if he did, I know he won't, if he were to get on one knee tonight, I'd say yes. That scares the hell out of me."
