Background: Em was born in Hangzhou, China to a mother and a father who already had three girls, Em's older sisters. By the time Em was 6, his father died of cancer, leaving Em with a house full of girls. After the tragedy, the family migrated to America hoping to start anew. Em grew up in America loving music, just like his father did. At the age of 14, he was scouted by a Pinky Entertainment staff member and although he thought it was going to be hard leaving his family and life behind again, his family insisted he did it, and so he did.
