Sweet Surprise

It's Sinulog weekend here in Cebu!
Super busy week so I didn't have much time to write.

Pasensya na at maiksi lang po ang one-shot na ito. Hope you still enjoy it!

Again, ito po ay bunga ng aking malikot na imahinasyon. Anumang pagkakahawig sa totoong buhay ay nagkataon lamang.

Saturday night, NAIA

  "Alden! Alden! Alden!"

  People were in a frenzy since Alden Richard's flight from Dubai arrived. Good thing Rj and his team were already used to this and were able to access a route where he could get in and out quickly.

  "Dalian natin, naiinip na ako," Rj said while rushing through the airport.

  They had to hurry because Rj had a plan - he wanted, no needed, to leave the airport soon so he can surprise his baby.

  "Nabili ba yung mga request ko? Dadaan pa tayo ng Starbucks para makabili ng frap for her and tea for me," he asked as he turned towards MT.

   "Ayan ka na naman, di ba sinabi ko na sayo na handa na nga lahat? Kailan ba naman kami pumalya sa mga request mo?" answered MT as they were getting into the car.

  "Luh luh luh, wag ka na pong magtampo, excited lang po kasi almost 5 days na kaming hindi nagkikita," Rj said with a smile to placate MT. "I-smile na yan! Love mo naman kami pareho di ba? Di ba?" Kulit- and pacute-mode Rj was definitely on.

   "Hay tigilan mo na nga ako! Ready na lahat - yung Blu-Ray disc ng Serendipity saka Love In the Time of Cholera na book." MT then looked at Rj quizzingly and asked, "Bakit nga ba yan ang pinahanda mo sa amin?"

   "Pag binigay ko kay Meng ito, alam na niya yung meaning ng mga regalo ko," Rj answered with a teasing smile.

   Serendipity - a happy accident or a sweet surprise. This word truly defines how fortunate he and Maine have been to have "found each other" on that fateful rainy day last July 16.

   Hindi ko talaga hinanap, pero dumating ka sa buhay ko unexpectedly. Thank you po talaga, Lord for bringing her back into my life again, 5 years after we first met.

   He then thought of the past 5 (almost 6) months. Her first smile on TV, her first FS to him, their first split-screen kiss, their first glimpse of one another, first TV date, first time their hands touched, first time he got to hold her - so many firsts in such a short period of time.

   Thank you Lord for bringing Maine into my life again when I was ready to give love another chance. Ang galing po ng timing ninyo ni Mama. Ma, thank you for looking after us - I didn't expect this pero Mother Knows Best talaga. I love you and I miss you so much.

   "Tama na muna yang pagmumuni-muni mo! Dito na tayo sa Starbucks. Ano kunin natin for Meng?" asked MT.

   "Chocolate chip cream frappucino. Yung sakin, yung usual tea ko, please." answered Rj as he started to check his social media feed.

   Hmm, so yun pala si Jake. Guwapo din naman, buti na lang ako ang nakilala ni Maine nung July 16 - sorry na lang sila!

   This was Rj's initial thought as he saw the feed for KalyeSerye that day.

  "Hala! What's this? Maine's out for a coffee run??? Tsk, tsk, tsk... Ayan kasi Tisoy, hilig pang mang-surprise," Rj muttered to himself in surprise.

   "Di bale, since manonood pa kami ng Serendipity, useful na rin yung extra caffeine for her." Then he suddenly thought, "Hmmm, what time kaya sila babalik? Ma-text nga si Dean."

To: Dean
Dean, favor naman o. I plan to surprise Meng and we're on the way to the condo. What time would you be back? Btw, don't tell her - it's a surprise.

From: Dean
Pabalik na kami, kuya. In 10 minutes' time nasa condo na siguro kami. Para safe, gawin mo nang 15 minutes.

To: Dean
Okay, thanks! See you in 15.

   "Rj, eto na yung pinapabili mo. Tara na at baka malusaw itong frap ni Meng!"

----- At Meng's condo

   "Nasaan na kaya si Shokoy? His flight arrived na kanina pa but he hasn't texted or called yet," Maine asked aloud.

   "Aba malay ko, ba't di mo tawagan nang malaman mo?" Dean asked annoyingly.

   "Hindi kita tinatanong noh! This is what you call, thinking out loud. Matulog ka na nga, ano pa ba hinihintay mo?"

   "Oo na, matutulog na - may hinihintay lang ako sandali," Dean answered while stretching.

   *doorbell rings*

   "O ayan na yung hinihintay ko!" Dean said while rushing to the door.

    "Wow ha, lumabas na tayo kanina nagpa-deliver ka pa? Kaya tayo hume-healthy e."

   "Hi mam, special delivery po! Coffee and a movie?" Rj announced as he entered the living area.

   "Rj!" Maine shouted as she launched herself at Rj.

   "My job here is done! Goodnight!"

   But Rj and Maine didn't even noticed him - they were just happy to be back in each other's arms.
