My brother's bi, and he gets bullied a lot, my parents don't know he's bi though.

So my brother (Nick) was planning to come out to my mum and dad -even though he knew they'd accept him he was really nervous.

Nick finally built up the courage to come out to my parents, and he told me he felt so much better instantly.

The thing Nick was most nervous about is my grandparents, as they are extremely homophobic.

When he finally told my grandparents he was bi, they didn't accept him, they wouldn't speak to them. They wouldn't even let him come into their house, they expected him to stay at home whilst the rest of the family went to visit them.

I decided "enough is enough" and I spoke to my grandparents, I told them that even if they didn't agree with Nick's sexuality they should approach the subject with respect and be careful about how they treat him.

When they didn't listen to me, I stopped visiting them. I'm not going to stand for someone treating my brother with such disrespect and going as far as trying to kick him out of the family.

My parents decided that this was ridiculous too and didn't speak to them that much until they came to terms with Nick's sexuality.

A few months later, my grandma and grandpa came to our door in tears, they apologised profusely and took Nick away for an evening so they could apologise and talk to him.Nick came back with the biggest smile I've ever seen on his face, he told me it was 'the best day ever'.As of now, Nick and my grandparents have the best relationship I've ever seen and they regularly go on days out.(I got permission from Nick and my grandparents to tell this)-Tommy
