As Xiao Lian blinks her eyes in a curious manner Ye Gui Feng begins to tell his daughter the story of a forgotten god.

[Long, long ago...]

The setting of the story is in a rural village that's right next to the great seas making the air of this village somewhat salty as the sea breeze blows by.

In the world of this story practitioners and the concept of cultivation itself doesn't exist.

It is a plain world in which the mortals would perform mundane tasks to get by on a daily basis.

In the case of this seaside village's mortals all of them are fishermen who make their livelihood through fishing.

Behind this seaside village there is a tall mountain and resting at the peak of this tall mountain is an ancient shrine.

This worn out shrine had been built many centuries ago, prior to the existence of this seaside village and had been dedicated to the Dragon God of the Winds.

In the distant past villagers would come to this shrine to offer prayers of worship on a daily basis but as time flies by the fabled dragon god had been slowly forgotten about.

In the time period that this story had taken place the services that the dragon god had provided to these villagers didn't exactly helped them in any way.

This makes it so that no one would bother to make a trip up to the mountain peak just to offer worship.

Throughout the long histories of this village there are seasonal storms that would cause the sea waters to rise and flood everything.

This seasonal flood would force the villagers to flee to higher grounds in the hopes of surviving.

Since there is a tall mountain so close to the village it made the situation somewhat convenient for the villagers in trying to find higher grounds.

Why continue to stay here when seasonal flooding is an event that is bound to occur at least once a year? This question is something that numerous travelers might raise when visiting this rural village.

Although some of these villagers had once wished to move to somewhere else they had to drop the idea as it is very much unrealistic to them under their personal circumstances.

After all these villagers make their living through the seas by fishing and that is the only life skill that they are capable of having been born and raised here at an early age.

Telling these villagers to move more inland and separate themselves from the seas is very much the same as telling a fish to live on land and expect them to survive somehow.

From where would these villagers get food from without the knowledge of knowing how to hunt wild games?

Though the vast seas can be an enemy at times it is also these villagers' only source of food. Considering how these villagers only know how to fish for a living moving further away from the oceans would make it extremely difficult on them.

On a certain day during the seasonal period in which flooding is meant to happen the first sign of a major flood appears with the sea waters clawing deeper into the shores of the village.

Having survived through numerous floods the villagers quickly gathered together and began to head in the directions of the mountain behind them.

On the night of that day thunder and lightning frequently came down from the heavens causing the children within the masses to cover their ears in terror.
