The expression on Ye Gui Feng's face is difficult to read making it impossible for Xuan Nuo to know what it is that he is thinking of.

(A god... I see, merely a title that holds no sway. Then...)

Eventually-

[Forget it.]

The unreadable expression changes into an odd smile that contains relief and determination.

One would think that this is an odd combination of emotions mixed into a single expression and that is very much the truth. But it made perfect sense on Ye Gui Feng's due to the thoughts that appeared in his mind when Xuan Nuo had brought up the topic of god being a title that holds no sway.

[A ridiculous joke, a title that holds no sway... Truly... If a god is only worth so much in the face of an Original Monarch then I would have to agree with your claims. Their existence really is meaningless to the full definition of the word.]

A god, an omnipotent being of absolute power, they are the kind of existence that mortals would look upon in awe and offer blind worship towards.

To the common mortal they would view even the weakest level practitioner as a god and it's not difficult to see why.

In the eyes of mortals cultivators possessed all the traits that they lacked be it strength or longevity that surpasses their own.

But in the eyes of age-old monsters god itself is merely a fellow practitioner that has cultivated to a level that is beyond the norms, individuals who have stepped out of the human domains and is only a single step away from entering into the realms of a monarch.

These individuals are those who are forever barred behind the line known as "being human;" because they are born human and act as humans they will never be able to cross the line that is their designated limitation.

This limitation can be considered a form of destiny, a destiny that no human, no existence that had come into being under the hands of the Original Monarchs may go against, a destiny that can only be broken by cutting themselves away from the controls of fate itself.

"..."

Noticing that there is change to the demeanor of his opponent Xuan Nuo constricts his eyes.

[Having reached this level of cultivation I shouldn't have a need to pray to something like a god, but I suppose it was only human of me to hold faith in the concept of something that exceeds myself on a subconscious level or...]

Similar to the way in which a growing boy would look up to their father in admiration humans always tend to look up to those that have the qualities that they themselves lack, hence the concept of god, an entity that is the very embodiment of perfection shall always be a mythology idol of worship in the eyes of the powerless.

[Maybe it's because I tend not to overestimate myself into thinking that I'm above others.]

For that exact reason a part of Ye Gui Feng continues to hold a subconscious level of expectation towards the occurrence of a miracle that would help to resolve everything.

But as someone whose hands are already stained in the blood of numerous lives, the sort of person that no one would consider just; was such a person deserving of a divine miracle when they themselves should be a target of divine retribution instead?
