The daily routine of Ye Gui Feng would be to wake up early in the morning and head outside to paint before coming back in the afternoon.

During that time Ye Gui Feng would spend most of his time playing the zither with Xiao Lian by his side.

Although this mundane lifestyle continues to remain peaceful on the surface Ye Gui Feng would occasionally head outside in the middle of the night to make further preparations on his eventual plans.

As one might say it is best not to underestimate how much something little can add up to something big over time. Considering how slim the chances of this method working is Ye Gui Feng practically used any means available to him to increase the odds of its success rate even if it is by just a small margin.

[...]

On a certain night Ye Gui Feng's figure reappears by the clear colored lake.

[...]

Waving a hand Ye Gui Feng throws out his tools and sat down on the chair with both the plate of ink and brush in his hands.

Occasionally Ye Gui Feng would look up at the night skies while painting almost as if he is trying to paint the exact same sceneries of the night skies onto his canvas.

However, if one looks upon the canvas' painting and compares it to the night skies then they would instantly realize that the two looked nothing even remotely alike.

[...]

Pausing in the movements of the brush in his right hand Ye Gui Feng turns his head to the side and-

[Come out.]

The sound of something moving about in the bushes is transmitted into Ye Gui Feng's ears and momentarily a tiny figure emerges with a look of embarrassment on her face.

[It's already this late shouldn't you be asleep by now?]

Seeing Xiao Lian Ye Gui Feng smiles lightly as he beckons for her to come closer.

"I couldn't sleep too well."

[Are you feeling unwell or...?]

Towards this question Xiao Lian almost immediately shakes her head.

"I just don't feel too sleepy."

[A restless night is it?]

Having Xiao Lian hold the plate of ink for him Ye Gui Feng picks her up and places her on his lap before taking the plate of ink back.

"This is?"

[The heavens as I see it.]

"Hm?"

Blinking her eyes Xiao Lian puts on a look of curiosity. She finds it strange in how her father had recently taken up painting for what seems to be for no apparent reason.

"..."

Judging by the details of the painting in front of her Xiao Lian can tell that her father is by no means inexperienced in this craft.

[A human may draw the heavens but the heavens choose not to draw a human. Why do you think that is so?]

"Hmm... Because it doesn't have hands?"

[Heh. Perhaps that's one of the reasons as to why. But I think it's probably because it doesn't have any interest in painting ants.]

Waving the brush onto the canvas Ye Gui Feng adds to the painting before continuing to speak.
