Eternity is an awfully long time, the queen of the underworld thought to herself for the thousandth time in her lifetime. She tapped the armrest of her throne impatiently. It all would have been bearable, pleasant even, if her job hadn't been so tedious. Who wanted to oversee the arrival of those passed on every day, all day long?
Then, in a single moment, everything changed. A young woman showed up, making her an offer she, quite frankly, couldn't refuse.
And so they switched places for a year, and the queen of the underworld finally got to experience how exhilaratingly terrifying it is to live as a mortal being.
