As he searched through the lost and found box for his missing keys, he happened upon a much more intriguing find: a little pulsating orb. Some fancy, newfangled technology, or so he thought.
As he touched the object, he was instantly corrected: the orb was a form of pure, concentrated magic. And the effect it had on him was powerful.
Glancing around the room, he now heard secrets of the people surrounding him, as if they were being whispered into his ear. A quick look backwards ensured him that there was no one behind him.
It was all because of the orb. And it was going to make him rich.
Author's Note: "Newfangled" is my most recent favourite word, so I was very pleased to be able to use it in a short. Do you guys have any favourite words, and if so, how often do you get to use it in your writing?
