It truly had been the party of the century. Hell, maybe even the millennium.
You couldn't truly call your party a party without there being a satanic ritual, now could you? Add a city's worth of guests, ranging from royalty over merchants to the poor, against a backdrop of impending doom, and you're getting even closer.
It really gets wild with a pinch of hubris, a helping of betrayal and a side of literal death-conquering love. Top it off with several sacrifices, and you can believe how the hangover would last years.
