In all his enthusiasm in tackling his current quest, he hadn't seen the fearsome creature sneak up on him. When it tapped him on the shoulder, he jumped almost two feet into the air out of sheer surprise, before whirling to face the sudden company. Only to find a hairy monster towering above him, two curly horns adorning the top of its head.
"Mr. Knight, sir," it mumbled shyly, "Would you mind very much if I joined you? You seem to be on a quest of some sorts. I've never been on one before..."
"Sure!", the knight exclaimed energetically. "The more the merrier!"
And thus, the knight was unwittingly joined by the very creature he was sent to kill.
