138. Anticipation

The nervous energy roiling inside him was almost too much to bear. His heart was hammering in his chest, his lungs could hardly breathe right. The anxiety flooded his veins with such conviction that he thought he was going to burst.

He rehearsed the words one last time before the time for him to shine had come.

"Hi! I was wondering if you would like to go out with me, sometime?"

"Aren't you supposed to face me when you ask that?", a voice asked behind him. He whirled. The boy he wanted to ask out was standing behind him all along.

"The answer is yes, by the way."
