-Chapter 76: In Your Arms is a Place I Call Home

I look over at the window as the glass falls to the floor. What in the world just happened? Gai just left for work and the window just breaks. I didn't do anything to it! I am not taking responsibility for that at all.

Abyss peeks her head into the room and her head turns to me, eyes adjusting a bit. "Mari, I have come to get you out of this room. I have been told that you're in danger and are need of my assistance." Assistance? How did she know what was going on?

"Abyss..." I am surprised to see her right now. She came for me? "I am glad to see you." I hop off the bed and she steps fully into the room.

"Mari, do not approach me. You have no shoes on and if you do, you will step on broken glass," Abyss states and I look down. Right, I knew that. Yeah...

"How did you get here so fast?" I want to know the reason how she got here when she did.

She actually took way too long. I just want to know what is going on inside her head to make her disobey Gai so openly right now. He's not going to be happy once he gets home.

"I was made aware that you were in danger, so I am taking action to keep you from being in danger. Is my action to prevent you from being in danger approved?" Abyss asks. Right, I'm technically her boss now.

I look up at her and nod quickly. "Yes, that is fine. You're allowed to take action that keeps me from being in danger. Just don't risk lives doing so."

"Unable to accept that order all the way. If there are other lives at stake with yours, I have no choice but to prioritize you. Mari, you're the one I am tasked with to keep safe. As the user of Abyss, you are my top priority."

She's right that I am the top priority she has. She risked herself when going against Allen. She had no choice but to go against any of his orders since she has to keep me safe. Allen knew that, but he didn't care it seems.

"If you put yourself in danger, I will take action to prevent you from being in danger."

"Does that mean knocking me out?"

She nods her head and blinks. "Yes, that is what that means. I will knock you out if you're putting yourself in danger and take you out of the situation that is causing you to be in danger. You are my highest priority."

She steps onto the glass and comes closer to me. "Are we leaving?" I ask.

"Yes, that is affirmative. We will be taking our leave now. Mari, I shall carry you out of this room and take you to a safe place to stay. Once we sort out this mess, you will no longer be in danger."

I guess I should go with her.

Rei steps out of the way as I step into his house with Abyss. I haven't been here in a long time. I really missed being around him. We were so close when I came here and then things changed so fast. If I didn't get into Allen's hands, I would still be living with him. I also would have never lived with MetsubouJinrai.

"Mari, what brings you here with Abyss?" Rei asks me, shutting the door as I turn to him and Abyss. "Is something going on at ZAIA that I don't know about? Does your husband want to see me?"

"Mari was in danger so I brought her here," Abyss answers, not mentioning Gai's name. "I took the necessary action to avoid danger. Her life is no longer being threatened at this moment in time." 

His eyes go to Abyss and he gives her a look of confusion and questioning. "What danger could she possibly be in? Did the terrorist come to where she lives and threaten her? Weren't they all destroyed?" He doesn't know that another one is out there?
