Reborn in Naruto : Saki Haruno

Chapter 48

When they reached the spot of the chakra Saki and Sasuke were met with the sight of a Kankuro holding a struggling Konohamaru by his collar while Sakura was trying to help up Naruto who was pushed down by him.

"What are you doing?"

Saki glared at him.

"Oh another. . ."

Kankuro stopped as he looked at Saki.

He whistled as he walked towards her.

"You're pretty cute! What's your name?"

Saki was stunned. What was going on?

"Kankuro"

Tenmari said in a warning tone.

"Calm down Tenmari, let me do my thing."

After saying that to Tenmari he turned back towards Saki.

"So. . . as I was asking-"

He proceeded to place his hand on her shoulder but that hand was grabbed by Sasuke as he gripped it tightly.

Kankuro winced.

"Hey bastard, that hurts!"

He glared at Sasuke.

Sasuke glared back.

"Don't touch her. . .Get lost!"

He threatened through gritted teeth.

"Kyaaaa!!!So cool!!!"

Sakura squealed as she dawned over Sasuke. While Konohamaru expressed his disappointment towards Naruto while Naruto tried to defend himself.

Saki was getting really uncomfortable and just wanted Gaara to come and save the day.

"I hate show-offs like you the most."

Kankuro said as he snatched his hand away from Sasuke.

"I too hate pest like you."

Sasuke replied back as he moved to stand between Saki and Kankuro.

With that Kankuro proceeded to take out Karasu, his puppet.

"Hey, you are even going to use Karasu?"

And just at that moment Saki felt an unfamiliar but intimidating chakra. She whipped her head in that direction as a young but cold voice could be heard.

"Kankuro, stop it."

Everyone turned to look at Gaara who was standing upside down from the branch of a tree.

"You're an embarrassment to our village."

"Ga. . . Gaara. . . "

Kankuro smiled nervously.

"Losing yourself in a fight, how pathetic. Why do you think we came to leaf village?"

"Listen Gaara, they started it and. . ."

Kankuro tried to justify himself but was immediately cut off by Gaara.

"Shut up. . . I'll kill you. . ."

At that statement Kankuro started sweating and trembling.

"Ok, I sorry. . ."

Kankuro apologised in a shaky tone.

"I'm also sorry. . . really sorry. . . "

Naruto also apologised in an equally terrified tone.

"Sorry to you guys."

Tenmari spoke up as she apologised to Naruto and the kids.

Gaara then appeared in in front of his two siblings.

"It looks like we got here too early but. . ."

He said as he looked at his siblings.

"We didn't come here to play around."

"I know that. . ."

Kankuro replied in a meek voice.

"Let's go."

Gaara was preparing to leave but was stopped by Sakura.

"Hey, wait!!"

"What?"

Gaara stopped as he turned to look at her.

Saki felt three other chakras coming from a nearby tree.

She sneakily glanced at that direction to find three figures sitting on a tree branch observing them. She hadn't noticed their chakra before since Gaara's chakra had drowned theirs.

'Other participants!'

She thought as she looked at them.

'Aren't they the ones who attacked Sakura when Sasuke and Naruto were down.

She saw them glancing her way as she quickly glanced away pretending to be listening to the commotion going on in front of her.

She felt nervous and also a little bit of fear. The chunin exam. . . was what started it all. Sasuke's departure from Konoha. She still hadn't figured out what to do and  how to do it. She felt a feeling of anxiety bubbling up inside her.

She breathed out as she looked at what was going on in front of her. First she had to figure out a way to deal with. . . Orochimaru.

"Hey what's your name?"

She heard Sasuke question.

"Huh? You mean me?"

Tenmari said blushing.

"No. You with the gourd."

Sasuke said not even glancing at Tenmari.

"Gaara of the desert. . ."

Gaara introduced.

"I'm also interested in you, your name?"

He asked.

"It's Uchiha Sasuke. . ."

Saki glanced at Sasuke, she had to say he was still as arrogant as the chubby toddler whom she trained with in her childhood.

"Hey!! What about me?! Huh?!"

"Not interested."

Saki looked at Gaara who was not bulging from his spot.

'Wasn't he supposed to leave after that?"

Saki frowned in confusion.

Gaara suddenly turned to look at her her. He stared silently at her for a while.

". . . You?"

He asked after a while.

She was stunned. Why did he want to know her name?

". . . Haruno Saki"

She answered anyway.

"Let's go."

Gaara said to his siblings after a while of staring at her.

Saki let out the breath that she had been holding in, she had been getting uncomfortable at being stared at by him for too long.  After he left she could hear Naruto complaining in the background but she just looked at the sand left behind as they disappeared.

"This is going to be interesting."

She heard Sasuke muttering beside her.

But she felt that it was more confusing than anything.
