I've always never quite fit in

Emma and Alyssa were in 9th grade they had been hanging out for a while they where at Emma's house.

Emma was sitting on her bed and Alyssa was sitting on the floor. "hey is that a guitar?" 

Alyssa picked it up. "cool" 

"be careful with that!" 

Alyssa looked at Emma shocked. Emma looked down "i'm sorry, its just really special to me. My Nan gave that to me." 

"no, it's ok" I had no idea you play. Do you?" 

Emma blushed "a little" 

"do you sing?" 

"yeah.. a little i'm not very good" Emma looked embarrassed "so um.. have you been making friends?" 

"yeah a few people, mostly people on the cheer team" 

"nice" 

"what do you do with your friends?" an silence fulled the room. "oh c'mon Emma, it's not like i'm your only friend" Alyssa smiled thinking she was making a joke 

Her smile faded when she looked at Emma's face. "i'm your only friend" it sounded more like a statement then a question. 

Emma's face flushed, embarrassed. "kind of yeah" Emma said softly 

"well what stopped you from making friends?" Alyssa asked 

"the people, the kids really" 

"I mean I konw Indiana is fulled with a bunch of assholes but i'm sure there are people who you could be friends with" 

"you don't understand, it's not that. The kids don't really like me at all" 

"well why not? You really nice I don't get why people would hate you" 

Emma looked at her she couldn't tell Alyssa the truth, not yet it might scare her away. 

"I'm just really...different them most people here" 

Emma picked up her guitar. "it's kind of like this" Emma took a breath and began to sing 

" Ever since I was a child

I never had a "crowd"

So I try to play it straight" Emma blushed at the word 'straight' hoping Alyssa wouldn't notice  
But I just played in the mud
And since the age of eight

Rebellion was just in my blood 

There are two girls in a line
One is doing fine

I'm a muddy mess

"so you like being the odd man out?" Alyssa asked 

"I hate it, I just tolerate it" Emma replied "it's kind of like this with the kids at school" 

"Whenever I approach

Most people just walk away
But the sad part is
I know they'd likely despise me
If they decided to stay

There are two girls in a line

Blending in is easy for some
I'm the sorest thumb
I'm the other one

"why do you want to be like everyone else?"  Alyssa asked "because it's easier" 

"All I know is when I see a crowd

I have to figure out how to enter
And for once I'd like to feel

Like I was just in the center" 

Emma blushed hard. 

"Emma.. that was amazing" Alyssa said hugging her Emma was shocked at first but then she hugged her back, her heart was hammering and her every nerve was on fire, she had never felt this way before, it felt amazing but it sacred her. 

Alyssa felt Emma stiffen. She pulled away "are you ok?' 

Emma nodded "yeah.. fine" No, i'm really not 

"you really think it's easier to be like everyone else?" Alyssa asked "it it though?" 

"that's easy for you to say little miss perfect" Emma teased 

"Emma look at me, it's not so easy for me ether. We live in a town that's mostly white people, I'm biracial. You konw? it's not that easy for me to fit in ether" 

"I'm glad we have each other" 

Alyssa smiled at her "me too" 

Usually when people called Alyssa Little Miss Perfect'  they were mocking her but Emma had said it in a nice way, Alyssa liked that it made her feel all warm and made her stomach flutter. 

she had never felt that way before ether, she kind of liked it. 

this was just a fun Idea I had Also the song Emma sings is called 'the other one' from the musical Love In Hate Nation. I thought it was a fun idea also that Emma and Alyssa are slowly discovering there feelings for each other was really fun to write.
