Affinity

Growing up in my teenage years were the best. Although it started out rough and a little bit shaky, I managed to find the right person to spend it with.

Hayden Haddock.

It started in high school of course. Our little childish friendship blossomed into a more serious and honest one. We told each other everything and went through thick and thin together.

We would compliment each others outfits and even laugh our butts off if one of us fell down. We even had the same favourite flavoured ice-cream.

But the best common trait between us both? We loved dogs.

I have one, Stormfly, my little retriever. Hayden had one too, Toothless, a black lab. We absolutely loathed cats though, I mean they are never loving?! When I tried touching one before, she freaking scratched me!

Anyways...but of course being the stupid me, I couldn't see how I was falling for my best friend over the years.

Everytime his parents would fight, he would spend the night at my place. Sometimes, when I was feeling like crap about my academic performance or my own family, he would be there.

Best friends?

I mean, thats' what a best friend is supposed to be, right? That is the definition.

But we weren't. We were never best friends.
