Astrid's POV

The wind whipped in my hair as I stared out into the horizon.

New Berk was a massive island so we didn't even need to build watch towers. Anyone could see an incoming enemy ship or an approaching storm.

But home was still home.

Honestly? I miss Berk.

It pains me to think that we will probably never return and that all of our infrastructure that we built for the dragons would be gone.

However these thoughts were not the only thing zipping through my mind.

I knew, after construction is done here, the only thing left to do is for Hiccup and I to tie the knot.

Which I am still unsure about. I'm convinced I am unprepared for such a responsibility. I'm not blind though, I know Hiccup is eager to get marries.

He keeps bringing it up, and it sure as heck makes me nervous.

I look down at my boots and sigh.

Stormfly. Toothless...and the other dragons aren't here to comfort us anymore.

I bring my head up again to stare at the sunset, a sadness creeps into my heart as I tighten my arms against my chest.

I only notice after it's too late that Hiccup is now beside me.

"Hey." He greets.

"Hi."

"So...this is where you go when you need to think?" He asks, staring into the distance with me.

I nod, because I know if I say another word I wouldn't be able to hold in my tears.

"I know this entire process of rebuilding and the dragon's leave is upsetting...but i'm here with you." He smiles, taking one of my hands away from their crossed position and places it on his chest.

"I know." I smile back, my eyes watering.

"Come here." He pulls me in for a warm embrace, and I breathe in the musky scent from his hair.

He pulls away a little and rests his forehead against mine, all while combing his fingers through my hair.

"We're all in this together." I say, looking into his eyes.

"Especially you and I." He grins before flashing me a mischievous smile.

His hands slide down from my shoulders to my waist before he gets down on one knee. He then takes one of my hands in his and holds it as he talks.

"Marry me. As soon as you can. I can't do it alone." He tilts his head in a smile. "I don't want you to beat around the bush anymore. Be frank."

I pull him up and kiss him, not giving him a chance to question my spontaneous action.

"What was that for?" He mutters, before going in for another kiss.

I pull away. "That was for everything."

"It's time. We have a wedding to plan." Hiccup grins.

Really short but 🤷🏿‍♀️. I'll be continuing "being selfless" soon but for now i'm going to write more single parts.
