true friends are burning stars
they shine brightest on those darkest nights
~ atticus

I stand there in a crowded room and watch the man who consumes every fibre of my aching body walk away with a look of hurt in his eyes.

I know that he has trouble trusting people and that his trust is very thin, but never did I think it was that thin.

He always talked about him hurting me, never did he mention the opposite; me hurting him.

"What have you done?" I turn to look at Scar as her shoulder brushes against mine.

"Fucked up," she takes a deep breath from beside me before turning her attention to me instead of where Kyle left, "he won't ever forgive us."

Me because I thought I was being a good friend to Scarlett and wanting to help her with Kyle when I should have been protecting Kyle from her.

"I can't," I leave Scarlett's side and rush in the direction that Erik left, ignoring the crowd of people surrounding me, building a wall that Erik has already constructed.

I push and shove as I head to the entrance of the club, hoping he headed that way.

You think I would be able to see his 6'4 stance or even Kyle who is 6'2.

The cool breeze hits me like a bus as my heels collide with the cement of the sidewalk and my neck snaps in every direction, looking for him and his thunderbird jacket.

Nothing.

"Where are you going?" Scarlett pants from beside me, and tries to lean on me for support, but I step to the side as I pull my phone from my back pocket.

"Please pickup." I mumble as I head towards the road and in the direction that we parked.

"You shouldn't be walking by yourself, especially on Halloween night." Scarlett says as she falls into step with me. How isn't she freaking out? Her cousin is pissed and the guy she supposedly loves wants nothing to do with her, not to mention she dragged me down the hole too.

"I really don't fucking care, leave me the fuck alone Samantha. You've done enough damage." She looks shocked at my use of her real name, but I give zero fucks.

I just want to find Erik.

I am praying to whatever god or gods that he will listen to me and believe me.

I take a turn at the parking garage and wander in the dark closed off space.

I take my phone out and try again while putting a flashlight on just incase some drunk idiot tries something.

Maybe this was a bad idea, but I need to find Erik.

I wobble on my heels a bit as I start to feel the effect of the alcohol from not only the bar but pre drinks.

If Erik won't answer, maybe Kyle will.

I dial his number and listen to the buzz, "hello?"

"Lucas?" I question, "why do you have Kyle's phone. Where are they?"

"We're taking a smoke and he's watching over some poor girl who's vomiting right now. Do you want me to come and find you?"

"I'm at the parking garage, I'll just head back your way." I turn on my heels and head back the way I came, making sure to keep my flashlight on.

"I'll meet up with you." I can hear the sound of wind blowing across the microphone, indicating that he's running towards me.

"Avril!" I turn my head when I hear my name to see Lucas jogging up to me in his gladiator costume.
