'Then tell me why you so badly don't want this.'

'Because of you.'
The words immediately make his eyes snap to mine.
'What?'

'Cause I'm scared you'll leave.'
My voice trembles as I come undone.

I'll let him know.

'Why would I leave you?'

'Oh god knows why, I'm just scared you will, and that the kid will have to pay the price for it. I can't protect it form things like that, and it's scary.'

Clays hand moves to gently rub my lower back.
'I don't want to leave.' His whisper comes out barely audible, and his warm breath touches my soul. 'Did you ever think of that? What if I don't want to leave?'

I bite my lip.
I haven't.

'It's fucking stupid, this. We're both scared that the other will leave, then what is the actual problem?'

'Still you.'
My words are teasing, and I know he'll know by the sound of my voice.
I just need this to ease.

'Still me, huh?' He says as he grins slightly.
I nod and wipe his face with my sleeves.

I press a soft kiss to his trembling lips.
Being this close again feels right.
