When in bed rain starts to tap against the window.
I'm curled up against Clay who is already asleep.

I've been awake for a while now, but not that I mind.
The room is lit by the light of our neighbors campfire.
Chatter from their party can be heard, but it's not loud.

Mewling catches my ear.
Patches her high pitched miauw.

I slip out of bed and head down to the sound.
When I reach the living room it grows louder.
'Patches, where are you Hunny?' I ask in a louder whisper.
My eyes land on her green eyes on the other side of the glass door.
'Oh sweetie.' I say as I open the sliding door to the backyard.

She slips inside, soaked by the rain.
'How did you get outside?' I ask her as I get a kitchen towel to dry her.
She purrs as I rub her with the towel. 'Did Clay lock you out, huh?'

When she's a little more dry she starts to lick her fur.
I move to the kitchen to put the towel away when a sharp pain shoots into my abdomen.
I let out a surprised sound as I lean onto the kitchen counter.
I suck in a sharp breath as the pain sets in again.

My eyes widen as I realize it's my belly, where the baby is.
My heartbeat speeds up immediately.

I take a few deep breaths,
It's alright.

The next jab of pain makes me let's out a quiet yelp.
'Clay!'

This can't be good.
I flinch as the sharp pain comes again.
I'm not more then eleven weeks in, this isn't supposed to happen.

Pain starts to go lower, letting me know that it has to do with the baby.
Trying not to get more panicked, I call for Clay again, to get a response this time.

His footsteps come down the stairs.
'What's wrong?' He asks before he enters the kitchen.

'Oh shit.' He rushes to my side as I whimper at the new jolt of pain.
I grab onto his arm as he holds me 'it's hurts, somethings wrong.'

Clay moves me to the table
'sit down first love. Tell me what's wrong.'

I suck in another sharp breath.
'Pain.' I say as I lay my hand over where.

Clay is concerned and sleepy as he runs back upstairs.
He comes back down with his phone to his ear.

'No she's not that far in.' Clay explains.
He looks at me and kneels down in front of me.
'Are you bleeding, love?' He asks.

The first time my mind goes to actually notice.
I nod my head as I tear up.

'She is.' Clay says.
'Alright, I will.'

He hangs up and immediately picks me up.
'We have to go to the hospital.' He says as he gets us both upstairs.

He helps me change and put a pad in my underwear for the blood.
'Come on.' He says as he picks me up.

I cling to his neck as he carries me.
'Clay, I'm scared.' I say as tears slip out of my eyes.

'I know, I know.'
He sets me in the car, before running back to lock the door.
'They'll take a look, you'll be alright.'
