Not to mention Xie Miao's mood, Zhou Niannan felt refreshed and returned to Suxin Yuan with four persimmons in his hands.

"Mother!"

Madam Marquis Dingyuan was drinking tea in the hall. She heard his voice without seeing him and couldn't help but complain to the maids: "He is so old but he is still so unruly. He is no different from the reckless men in the countryside!"

Qiu Wu covered her mouth and smiled, "Third Young Master is still young. It will be better when he grows up."

"He's still young? The second son of the Yushi family is the same age as him and will be a father next year. But this little bastard of mine didn't even bring back a girl's shadow!"

Zhou Niannan entered the room and happened to hear the last few words, "What does mother want a girl's shadow for? Is it popular to collect this in the capital now?"

Madam Marquis Dingyuan lightly slapped his arm, "You are the only one who can speak well!"

Seeing that Zhou Niannan was sweating lightly, she quickly took out a handkerchief to wipe it for him, "Where did you go to play that you are covered in stinky sweat?"

Zhou Niannan showed the persimmons to her, "Mom look, persimmons!"

Madam Marquis Dingyuan was dumbfounded. They were just a few persimmons, how could they be so strange?

"Could it be that you climbed the tree and picked it yourself?"

"No." Zhou Niannan put the persimmons on the table, swept the the corner of his robe aside and sat on a chair nearby. He took the tea from Hong Lan, drank it and said eloquently: "I stole it."

Stole?

Madam Marquis Dingyuan was startled then Hong Lan laughed and said, "Since the Third Young Master snatched it specially, it must taste better than the others."

Zhou Niannan said: "Aunt Hong go and wash it. There are exactly four of it, one for each of us."

Hong Lan washed the persimmons, put them on a plate and served them. Zhou Niannan took one, peeled it and handed it to Madam Marquis Dingyuan, "Mother, come and try it."

Madam Marquis Dingyuan picked it up and took a small bite. The soft, glutinous and sweet pulp melted into her mouth after a bite. She touched the corner of her mouth with the handkerchief and said with a smile, "Yes, sweet."

Zhou Niannan raised his eyebrows and smiled. Xie Miao picked the fruits from thousands of choices. They must be sweet.

Qiu Wu peeled the persimmons and handed them to Zhou Niannan, "This is the season for eating persimmons. If Madam likes it, I can ask Zhuangzi to send some when we get back."

"Yes, give some to each room." Madam Marquis Dingyuan nodded, tasted the persimmons again and put them down.

Qiu Wu twisted the wet handkerchief to wipe her fingers. She looked up and saw that Zhou Niannan had eaten half of a persimmon. She couldn't help but smile and said, "I remember that the Third Young Master doesn't like eating persimmons when he was a child but things have changed now."

Zhou Niannan said matter-of-factly: "How can we waste what we have worked so hard to grab?"

What does this mean? Could it be that it was really stolen?

Madam Marquis Dingyuan asked curiously: "Where did you steal it from?"

"I met an acquaintance and stole it from her."

What kind of "acquaintance" would rob even a persimmon?

Madam Marquis Dingyuan wanted to ask again but Zhou Niannan wiped his hands casually and stood up, saying, "I have some things to do and I have to go down the mountain. I'll come back in the evening. Mother doesn't have to wait for me to have dinner."
