I found this adorable video and you guys should all watch it. It's called the Duet, by Glen Keane, and it's absolutely beautiful.

R/G

I couldn't help glancing at my reflection in one of Donnie's computer screens every other minute. I'm NOT conceited. The explanation is quite simple. I just...didn't know what I would look like the next time I looked at myself.

Okay, maybe it wasn't so simple.

After another two hours of figuring and theorizing, Raph's nerdy brother gathered us in the lab again. During those two hours, Raph hadn't let me out of his sight-- I was extremely grateful I hadn't needed to use the bathroom, since he might've followed me in there too.

"Alright," Donnie started, "The serum that was injected into your systems during your stay with Shredder... had a mutagen base. The thing is... it's not effecting you four the way it normally effects test subjects."

I sighed in exasperation. "Which means...?"

"It means that the mutagen is having mental effects. That's where your...abilities are stemming from."

"So what's happening to R/G?!" Ralph exclaimed.

Donnie rolled his eyes. "I only have theories on their abilities--"

"Well then, what's your theory?!"

Another eye roll. "I think the mutagen effected her neurons, changing them into mirror neurons. In the animal kingdom, that means that an animal will 'mirror' actions and behaviors found in another. The mutagen rendered those neurons, so instead of mimicking behavior, R/G's body is mimicking physical characteristics. She's mirroring characteristics she's seen in others."

"That's why I can shape-shift?" I stepped forward.

"Like I said, it's only a theory."

I stood still, trying to register what was happening. Something in my head changed. And now I was shape shifting! What if I was walking down the street, and suddenly I look in a shop window, and I'm a completely different person!

My distress must've shown. Ralph turned and pulled me into a tight hug. He didn't seem to be any less shocked than I was. I held onto him for dear life.

M/G

I wrung my hands nervously, and Mikey's hold on my shoulders tightened.

"What about M/G?" My boyfriend murmured. His tone was calmer than his older brother, but I sensed the small waver in his voice.

Donnie slowly turned and pulled up a scan of my head that he'd taken earlier. I frowned-- it seemed like a normal brain to me.

"See that?" He pointed at something that only he could see, "The parallelism has sped up in your brain. Scientists that have theorized about super speed have stated that the passage of ions through a certain membrane might induce enhanced speed."

Mikey huffed. "Were we supposed to understand any of that?"

Donnie cut to the chase. "It means that because her brain activity has sped up, she was given the ability of super speed."

I suddenly was aware of every feeling in my head, the slightest pulse, the oddest sensation that might happen. I thought I could almost feel my brain moving at a hundred miles an hour. I knew it wasn't possible, but the mere thought of having my mind whirring at top, top speed was unnerving. I clung to  Mikey, and his arms held me comfortingly. I was almost able to forget the thoughts about ions and speed and theories.

Almost.

L/G

Leo was always good at masking his true emotions. Maybe that's why he was such a good leader; he never let it show what he actually felt. But his facade didn't fool me for half a second. I saw the distinct tension in the muscles of his neck, the irregular clenching of his jaw. He was just as nervous as I was.

I took a deep breath. "Donnie, do you know anything about my condition...?"

He turned to me with his gaze on the floor. My heart sunk slightly.

"Scientists haven't really done that much research on telekinesis," he explained, "Most people dismiss it, like it's just some fantasy from Star Wars..."

"Sure, but they think super speed and shape shifting is completely feasible," I muttered.

Donnie sighed. "I can only base my diagnosis on my own theory. Your mind is working against the laws of this world's physics. It's acting as if your mind was developed in Dimension-X, where gravity isn't very predictable. You can interact with organic matter like someone would in the alternate dimension. I think your ability works best when you're completely relaxed-- that's why you discovered it while you were meditating with Leo. So, the telekinesis is linked to your mind's balance. Call it a sort of spirit manipulation, if you will."

"...So I'm some of alien?"

"No, no!" Donnie backtracked, "It just means you have sorta the same abilities as an individual from Dimension X."

"Oh, because that makes it so much better!" I cried, "I'm not an alien, I just have the same abilities as they do! What's gonna happen next? I'll sprout tentacles from my forehead?!"

I was about to continue my rant, when Leo pulled me close. My shoulders shook from the effort to keep my emotions at bay. I wished I could hide my feelings as well as my boyfriend.

D/G

I watched as my friends embraced their boyfriends. Turning to Donnie, I gave him a shaky smile. I could practically see his frayed nerves teeming beneath his skin. I'd stayed by his side while he researched every symptom, looked through tons of data. I remained silent for two hours, and I still hadn't spoken.

Now, he walked over to me. "Don't you wanna know what..." He seemed unsure of how to finish his sentence.

I exhaled slowly. "You've had a long day. It doesn't matter..."

He quirked a brow, and I knew he could see right through me...

Not literally. At least, I hope not literally...

He turned back to his laptop, pulling up a search window. "You're not necessarily turning invisible. It's kind of like what chameleons do to camouflage. Your brain creates a sort of mechanism that switches your normal skin cells with chromatophores, which changes your skin pigment to your surroundings, and gives the illusion of invisibility."

I nodded slowly, following along for the most part.

"The part about your intangibility," He pulled up another window, "Is that your brain has also rendered the atomic repulsion in your body... your atoms are packed less densely, and that's why you can... float through solid matter."

I leaned back against the counter, trying to comprehend his words. I understood every word he was saying. But the shock must've sent me into a state of numbness. He looked up at me, and mumbled as he hugged me, "We'll figure this out. You'll be alright. I promise..."
