Fortieth Poem: I am ready

Anxiously waiting

For you to come

When you do

My heart races

Hands shaking

I want to talk to you for hours on end

I hate it when you leave

I hate it when you never come at all

Could this be the start

Of something great?

Or something bad?

I'm ready to move on

From him

I'm ready to be happy

Like I once was

Before I was broken

Heartbreak after Heartbreak

Could this be it?

My chance?

Has God finally

Answered my prayer?

Opened a door

After closing so many

Am I ready to walk through?

I am so nervous

So scared

Oh please

Do not let me mess this up

I am walking on a wire

Ever so slowly

Do not look down

Don't fall

There may not be a net to catch you

Tread carefully

I am ready

Ready for falling

Ready for smiling

Ready for laughs

I am trying not

To move too fast

Open the door

Let him in

I am ready

I was blinded

You were in front of me

Invisible

Under my skin

I am ready

Heart beating faster

Nerves setting in

No more second guessing

No more running back

I won't turn around

I finally met my match

I am ready
