Decay

My work gave me a flower once

So nice, so giving

I shut it into the trunk of my car

Forgetting

Days and days it stayed

Wilting

Coaxed by a family member

I opened the trunk

And there is was

Feelings poured out of me

Bottled up for so long

The flower was dark

It's leaves falling off

Give it some water

Some light, some air

Breathing deeply

I shed a tear

I fell to the ground in front of you

Knees digging into the dirt

I laid the flower down

Sobbing

I begged and asked you why

Shoulders shaking

The flower bloomed and died

My feelings I shut into the trunk of my car

Ignored it

It hid in the dark

Spring turned to Summer

Fall into Winter

2 years have passed

I am still bitter

As I stand

Legs trembling

I say goodbye to your grave

Until another day

Leaving the flower

To decay
