A Hammer

A hammer

Heavy in my hands

But I lift it with ease

It's covered with dust and dirt

I found it forgotten

Lonely and hurt

I lifted

Swung it

With all my strength

Impact

Barely made a dent

I felt it

My arms kinda weak

A ringing in my heart

I don't give in

Day after day

I swing away

Slowly

I start

To see it cave-in

It crumbles

It falls

When the dust clears away

I'm tired

Dirty

I start to sway

But then I see your smiling face

Past the wall, you built so high

I drop the hammer

I run into your arms

Finally

You let me in
