"Wait! Wasn't Mr

"Wait! Wasn't Mr. Forkle the one you said died?" Dally asked.

"So you were paying attention. Dallas Winston, Conjurer and Vanisher, Mr. Forkle is dead, but also alive, but at the same time, dead and alive." Sophie said. She had a smug grin on her face. She and Dally are not going to get along. They'll butt heads a lot.

"Could you explain that? Clearly?" Dally said.

"What she means, is Mr. Forkle had a twin. They were genetically identical. At the time, multiple births were very frowned upon. They still are, but thanks to Sophie's presence, and unique point of view, certain elves are getting over their prejudice. Mr. Forkle and his twin would share an identity. Only one of them would leave the house at a time. When they grew up, they decided the best thing to do would be to take on extra identities, more characters. He's revealed three to us. Mr. Forkle's twin died at Lumenaria, so Mr. Forkle basically lost his other half. He's trying to cope. We're all trying to cope." Linh said. I am so confused.

"Thanks for clearing up Sophie's tangled web of a story." Dally said.

"It wasn't as confusing as an ogre's mind, a gnome's mind, Prentice's broken mind, or Alden's broken mind. Those were confusing." Sophie said. Broken minds? Ogres? Gnomes? Those aren't real creatures. Those are from fantasies.

"Stop bickering." Tam said, as his shadow grew larger, and crossed Sophie's, Linh's and Fitz's shadows.

"Whoa. Shadow tricks." Two-Bit said. Just then, Dally vanished.

"Dallas Winston! Where did you go? Get back here right now!" I yelled. Dally's tricks will be the death of me someday.

"He vanished." Sophie said.

"Yeah, I get that. But where did he vanish to? And how did he get away so quickly?" I asked. He'll never cease to amaze me.

"He's right there." Sophie points directly at an empty space. Is she crazy too? Then, she slapped the air. Somehow, that made Dally reappear there.

"How?" Soda asked.

"He can vanish. Just like my sister. Only my sister can hide from gnomes." Fitz said.

"So, am I normal?" Dally asked.

"Nope. You're a Conjurer and a Vanisher. Most people only get one ability. But not Sophie. She gets five. I think she has more untriggered abilities." Fitz said.

"What are they?" I asked. This stuff is confusing, but it makes sense. I always wondered why I could speak any language I wanted too.

"Telepath, Polyglot, Teleporter, Inflictor, and Enhancer. Teleporting is not as fun as it sounds. You get way too close to death. Inflicting is scary. Telepathy is hard in the Forbidden Cities, if you're not taught the proper skills. Being a Polyglot is especially helpful when you get kidnapped and are rescued, but left in the middle of Paris. Enhancing is dangerous." Sophie stated. I have so many questions. She slipped off her gloves. I wondered why she wore them. It's the middle of summer. She's got to be sweltering, with the capes and whatnot.
