I hear a loud crack, before Sophie and Linh land in a tangled pile of limbs on the floor in front of the TV.
"You still need to work on your landings." Linh said, as the whole gang starts yelling. Well, most of the gang. I have no idea where Dally is, and it's driving me nuts.
"What the hell!"
"Where'd you come from?"
"How?"
"Calm down. Let them speak." I said. I want to hear their side of the story.
"We have to get to the hospital." Sophie said.
"What happened?" I asked. If something happened to anyone in the gang, I don't know what I'd do.
"Sophie, what's wrong?" Fitz said. "Sophie, please. We're Cognates." Fitz begged. Sophie looked up, and they stared into each other's eyes for a long time.
"Telepaths." Tam said. Sophie and Fitz glared at him, but their eyes looked glassy. "What? It sounded like something Dizznee would say."
"Disney? Like Mickey Mouse?" Two-Bit shouted.
"No. D-I-Z-Z-N-E-E." Sophie said.
"Hospital. Explain." I can't take the not knowing.
"It's Tess. And Dallas. And Johnny." Linh said, "But I wouldn't be too worried about Johnny. I will tell him to take a really long shower." She wrinkled her nose.
"Ew!" Tam shouted, stepping away from the embrace he had been giving his sister.
"Relax. Dallas did it." Sophie interjected, trying to hold back a smile.
"Did what?" Soda asked, "What'd you do to gross him out?"
"Dallas will need some too." Sophie said, "And I'm not sure about Tess."
"What's wrong?" I asked. They seriously need to tell me. Like now.
"The church they were staying at caught on fire. They ran in to save the children. I'm not sure how bad their burns are, but they will survive if we leave now." Sophie said, "Fitz, are our mental powers strong enough?"
"Channeling." Fitz said, "Not getting in one of those death mobiles."
"Let's go. Linh, you should probably channel as well. Tam, your choice." Sophie said.
"I stay with Linh." Sophie and Fitz burst out laughing.
"You. Sound. Like. Sandor." Sophie gasped out between laughs.
"Come on boys. We gotta get to the hospital." I said, as we made our way out the door. "You coming?" I asked Fitz, Sophie, Linh, and Tam.
"Nah. Channeling. Meet you." Sophie said, before they started running. They were faster than Pony. And Pony can easily beat anyone at school.
