A/N: Remember the favor. Linh wanted a pet.

I'm a Shade. No one trusted Shades, especially me, until Sophie. She took our world, and turned it upside down. Now, she and her friends trust me. Being part of the Black Swan isn't always easy, and I really want to find the Collective's real identities, but they've been kinder to Linh and me than our parents ever were. We're frowned upon, just because we're twins. So what? We're just as capable as regular siblings. We just happen to have the same birthdays. It's different being in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but I think this could be a good thing. As long as Sophie makes mallowmelt. I've seen the ingredients in her pockets.

"Water will help." Fitz said. He wants Linh to get him out of the choke hold Dally put him in. If I had a melder, I totally would've threatened Dallas with it by now.

"Gaah!" Dally screamed as he got soaked by water. Way to go Linh!

You've got talent. Don't let them make you think otherwise. I shadow whispered to Linh. She nodded. Our parents are horrible people. I don't want to be related to them, and I made sure they knew it.

"You deserved it. Thanks for turning on the sink, Darry." Linh said, smiling. Linh's much craftier than she looks. She often resorts to splashing water on me. I love her though, so I put up with it.

"How am I gonna clean up this mess?" Darry moaned. The water had soaked the floor completely, but I knew Linh could take care of it.

"Like this." Linh closed her eyes. The water seeped out of the floor, and into an orb.

"Wow. Now, do it for me." Dally said. He was soaking wet, but I knew Linh wouldn't help him. He tried to choke Fitz. Now, if it was Keefe, that's a different story. I wouldn't mind Linh helping Dallas if he'd tried to choke Keefe.

"No way. You had Fitz on the floor." The orb dropped on his head, but all the droplets that came off him were caught into another orb.

"You have to admit, Keefe would've loved it." I said. He also would've annoyed us by retelling the story over, and over, and over again.

"That he would've, that he would've." Sophie replied.

"Keefe?" Dally asked.

"Master prankster. Rumors have it that he's the one behind the Great Gulon Incident. Not that I know what it is. It happened three years before I came to the Lost Cities. No one will tell me. All I know is that it involved lots and lots of gulon gas." Sophie said. Linh and I were banished by that time, so we don't know either.

"Not my story to tell. It's Keefe's." Fitz said. Keefe this. Keefe that. Seriously, what's so great about him? He makes fun of my hair. It's a show of my rebellious spirit. He doesn't make fun of Linh for doing the same thing! It's infuriating.

"I'm going to Buck's to get dry clothes. I might sleep there." Dally said, as he walked out the door.

"Well, I'd better get back to the dishes." Darry said.

"Do you need help?" Sophie asked.

"No. I've got it. Soda, why don't you sleep on the couch, so they can have your room. The twins can have Tess' room. Or vice versa. Just show them the rooms." Darry said.

"Sure. Come on, they're upstairs." Soda said. We followed him upstairs. He pointed to two doors. "You can pick out of those two." He walked away.

"We can take this one, and you can take the other." I said. I'm exhausted, I miss mallowmelt, and I miss Granite. Sir Tiergan. Whatever. It was nice to have a father figure that cared in our lives.

"Come on. I'm tired." Linh said. I followed her into the room. It was definitely Soda's and Pony's room. There were pants on the floor, and shirts strewn over the chair and desk.

"What a mess." I said.

"Oh, well. I just want to sleep." Linh said, crawling into the bed. "You can have the floor. With all the clothes, it'll be decent padding. Just try not to touch the leather." She was smiling. See, she is crafty.

"Nope. I'm sleeping in the bed." I used telekinesis to lift her, but she splashed me with water. Hydrokinetics. Two can play at that game. I gather shadows and blanket Linh with them, so she's shrouded in darkness.

"Tam! You asked for it!" Linh shouted, before water began seeping into my clothes. Before long, I was completely soaked. In response, I made my shadows thicker, and thicker, and thicker. Soon, the whole room was shrouded heavily with shadows.

"Sorry to bother you, but I ju-What happened?" Soda asked. He looked stunned.

"Bed wars." Linh said.

"Shade being shady." I replied. Everyone thinks Shades aren't trustworthy, because of the shadows. I seriously don't care what they think. They're jerks.

"And a Hydrokinetic at work with her shady twin." Linh added.

"Anyways, I just wanted to grab that leather jacket. It's lined with fleece, so I won't get cold." Soda said.

"Ew! Leather! Get that away from me!" Linh screamed.

"It's just leather." Soda said, looking confused. Linh's reaction was a little over the top, so I don't blame him. Just then, Sophie and Fitz came running in, with Darry close behind.

"What happened? Did the Neverseen find us?" Sophie asked.

"N-no. L-leather. The p-poor c-cows." Linh sobbed.

"Mr. Forkle warned us." Fitz said.

"What?" Darry asked.

"Does this have to do with y'all being vegetarians?" Soda asked.

"They've been vegetarians since they were born. I've been a vegetarian since I was twelve. The Elvin mind can't handle killing, because with killing comes guilt. It's broken minds before. It broke Alden's, but I can heal them." Sophie said.

"Yep. She's the moonlark." Fitz said.

"Linh, are you okay?" Darry asked.

"Y-yes. How can you wear that, knowing that you killed to get it?" she whispered.

"It's clothing that keeps me warm." Soda replied.

"Come on. Let's just sleep. With me on the bed. You can choose bed or floor, but I get half the bed." I said. I'm exhausted. Between teleporting, which was terrifying, going back in time, and meeting the gang, I just want some sleep.

"I get the whole bed." Linh said. She looked so innocent and sweet, that I couldn't say no to her.

"Fine. But no water." I don't want her to get the bed and splash me. That's too much.

"Deal. I'm tired." she said, before walking to the bed, and crawling under the covers.

"Night. See you tomorrow. And Sophie?" I said.

"Yeah?"

"There will be mallowmelt or I will be very shady." I said.

"I made chocolate mallowmelt. My own creation. You can try that." Sophie replied.

"Close enough." I walked into the room and created a pile of blankets and other stuff, carefully avoiding the leather. I won't freak out, but I don't want to sleep on it. I fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow.
