"Sophie? Could you come here?" Soda called, as he walked inside.

"Soda, what do you need? Shouldn't you be at work?" she asked, as she came down the stairs. She'd been working on Cognate training with Fitz.

"Sophie, this is Alyssa. Alyssa, this is Sophie." Soda asked. I pulled Tam along with me, and he pulled shadows over us, so they wouldn't see us at the top of the stairs.

"Hello, Alyssa. Dallas, why are you holding on to her arm?" Sophie asked.

"Because my hand is frozen to her arm. I couldn't move it if I tried." Dallas said. I had to hold in a laugh. Dallas cracks me up.

"Alyssa, could you please release the ice?" Sophie asked.

"Who are you?" she asked, as released the Dallas' arm from the ice.

"Sophie Foster. I'm an elf." she said. She started to say something else, but she was interrupted by Fitz.

"Sophie, you said you'd be a minute, not five. We were working on Cognate training. Sir Tiergan and Mr. Forkle said that no matter what, we should keep up our Cognate training." Fitz said. His teal eyes were sparkling.

Linh, Tam, you should introduce yourselves. I can see you when I'm this close. It only works from a distance. Fitz transmitted.

"Fitz, Alyssa's here." Sophie said.

"Oh, sorry. I'm Fitz Vacker, Telepath. And Sophie's Cognate."

"Alyssa Cade. Why did they bring me here? What's a Telepath?" asked Alyssa.

"You're not human." Sophie said, "You're an elf. A Froster to be exact. And Telepaths are elves that can read minds."

"An elf? A Froster? Read minds?" Alyssa asked.

"You can create ice out of nothing." Fitz said. "And there are strict rules on when us Telepaths can use our abilities. For example, we have to ask permission before entering a mind."

"Why were you surprised I could understand you?" Alyssa asked.

"We're speaking in the Enlightened Language." Sophie said.

"The Enlightened Language?"

"The language of elves. All elves know it from birth." Fitz said.

"I still can't get over the fact that elves talk as soon as thy're born, but it explains a lot of my odd childhood incidents." Sophie said.

"Wait, elves speak as soon as they're born?" Alyssa asked.

"That's crazy." Dallas said.

"You found Alyssa?" I said, from the top of the stairs. Tam pulled the shadows away, revealing us.

"Yep." Dallas said.

"Nope." Alyssa said, "I found you."

"Whatever. Close enough." Dallas said. Of course he'd say that. That's like saying you get tagged on the hand during Base Quest. He got tagged on the hand by Alyssa.

"I'd like to meet Johnny and Evelyn someday." she said. Not going to happen for a little while.

"They're in hiding." Dallas said, "It's because Johnny killed that Soc. It would help if you testified. It was self defense."

"I don't know." she said.

"You have to. Or else he'll go to jail." Dallas said desperately.

"Dallas, it'll be okay. Sophie can talk her way out of anything." I said. It's true. She's managed to not get banished, during her Tribunal. She also bargained with the Council, and managed to win their freedom, and Prentice. Prentice has healed from his broken mind, which is a huge relief. Wylie has his dad back.
