I concentrated on reaching Linh.

Linh. I transmitted, trying to make it as loud as possible.

Fitz? she thought.

Johnny's mind... I transmitted, It's broken.

I'll bring the gang. Linh thought.

Good. I broke the connection, and heard Sophie's voice.

"I'm going to try." she whispered.

"Sophie!" I shouted.

"What?" she asked.

"You can't." I whispered, "You're tired, and you could get trapped."

"He can't wait forever."

"My dad lasted for weeks. Prentice lasted for years!" I shouted, "You need rest."

"Alden and Prentice had years of practice!" she shouted, "Johnny just found out he was a Telepath!"

"But-"

"I'm doing this."

I saw the moment Dallas knew what had happened.

"Alden has a tree!" he shouted, "He has a Wanderling. A grave. He's dying, isn't he?" He ran past us.

"He's gonna do something reckless." Maria muttered, standing in the doorway.

"More reckless, or less reckless than Keefe?" Sophie asked, exhaustion creasing her face.

"Keefe?" Maria asked.

"How reckless?" Sophie explained.

"He might try to kill himself." Pony whispered. "He can't live without Johnny."

"Johnny's not going to die!" Sophie exclaimed.

"What?"

"Die?"

"Johnny?"

The gang was firing so many questions at Sophie, it was a surprise she heard them all.

"Johnny's not going to die." Sophie shouted, "His mind is broken, but I can heal him. I just need more memories. More happy times with him."

"Do we tell you about it?" Two-Bit asked.

"No, I look at your memories." Sophie said, "Speaking of memories, Alyssa, Pony, do you two have photographic memories?"

"Yeah." Pony said.

"Yes, and a bad habit to remind teachers about tests." Alyssa said ruefully.

"I remind teachers to collect our homework." Tess said, "On top of skipping a grade, and being in a junior level math class, I also have that habit."

"Just like me." Sophie said, "Except I was a twelve year old high school senior."

"Wow."

"I have a photographic memory, too." Tess whispered.

"Same." Maria added, "Dal has one too." Her face held so many emotions, each fighting to win. "I hope he's okay." she whispered.

"He'll be fine." Sophie said.

"I'm gonna go home, make sure someone's there, if he calls, or if the fuzz call." Darry said.

"Steve, and Zara." Two said.

"They don't count, they're injured." Darry said.

"Lara, Tara, and Cara." Maria added.

"I'd feel better if I was there." With that, Darry strode out of the room.
