"Where's Tess?" Johnny asked Linh, as she and Tam slid into two seats in the back. Mr. Hostetter doesn't notice if you switch seats, so it's free seating. I switched, so now I sat in the back, next to Johnny.

"She was making sure Pony got up. Somehow, they all forgot about him, remember?" Linh said.

"I know that. But, how long does it-" Johnny was interrupted by Tess darting into the room.

"I'm here. Don't worry." she said, pecking Johnny's cheek. "I channeled." I love channeling. It makes you feel freer, faster, simply more amazing.

"Cool." I said.

"I know." Tess' eyes glittered. "I've been practicing. Pony just learned this morning, so he'd get to school on time. I beat him."

"Good for you." Johnny whispered, just as the bell rang.

"Good morning class!" shouted Mr. Hostetter, "Let's get started. Remember, I teach bell to bell!" How could we forget? He says this every single day.

"There's two new kids, in the back!" shouted Carson. I hate him, but at the same time, I'm glad he showed me that paper. It gave me the key that opened the door to my family.

Mr. Hostetter ignored him, as he passed out papers. "Tess, could you help?"

"Sure, Mr. Hostetter." Tess smiled, as he gave her half the stack.

Linh, Tam, Mr. Hostetter is good at explaining. Just stay quiet, and don't say anything without raising your hand. Tess transmitted. You won't have any trouble with him.

I saw Linh nod, after catching Tess' eye.

Good. Tess smiled when she handed Johnny his paper.

Tess, I'm confused. Tam shadow whispered, I really don't get why we have to be here.

So you can learn about humans. Tess said. It's strange, to refer to them as humans.

"Thank you, Tess." Mr. Hostetter said, as Tess sat down again.

"You're welcome." Tess smiled brightly at him. Not the same way she smiled at the gang, though. This was was a little forced. Not completely, just partially. She hated the way he always picked her to pass out papers.

Mr. Hostetter started lecturing us on different functions. Quadratic, exponential, linear. It all started to blend together. He was a good teacher, better than most of the teachers here, he just didn't make it sound exciting at all, and nearly put us to sleep.

THUNK! Tam's head hit the desk. He wasn't the first person Mr. Hostetter had put to sleep. Mr. Hostetter didn't notice as always. He was deep in thought, lecturing us. Linh gently lifted Tam's head up, before dropping an orb of water on his head.

"Wha-" he stammered.

Say you don't understand. Tess transmitted urgently.

"I don't get it." Tam muttered, "Could you explain it again?"

"Sure." Mr. Hostetter started droning again, and Linh started pelting Tam with water droplets, so he wouldn't fall asleep again.

Class went by at a reasonable pace, but it was so boring.

"There. Done." Tess said, as we walked out. "Gym's next for most of us, what about you guys?"

Linh glanced at her schedule. "Yep."

"Which means yes for me as well." Tam groaned, "I'm guessing there's no telekinesis."

"No, but you could use it to slightly change the path of the ball, so that it goes in for your team, and misses for the other team." I grinned at the thought of confusing the Socs.
