"Riya, you wanna go to the DX with me?" Sodapop asked you one day.

You grinned at your older brother, excited to see how he spent all day. "Yeah!"

"How come she gets to go?" Ponyboy whined. "We're the same age, and you've never asked me to go to work with you."

Soda looked at him. "Do you wanna come too, Ponyboy?"

Pony shrugged, mumbling, "Nah."

You were swinging your legs, sitting on the check out counter of the gas station, when a little group of Greaser girls sauntered in. You recognized them from the neighborhood, but that was as far as it went.

One of them noticed you, elbowing one of her friends and nodding in your direction. They came and stood in front of you, giggling and smirking.

"You're a Curtis, ain't you?" asked the girl that had first seen you. When you didn't immediately answer, she became annoyed. "You're Sodapop's sister?"

You nodded, confused by her interest. "Yeah."

She smirked at her friends. "Right. Can you please do something for me?"

You shrugged, figuring she just needed your help. "Sure. What is it?"

She leaned in close and whispered something to you.

You were unsure about what she was asking you to do, but you couldn't say no. "You want to say that?"

She nodded, pointing out the window to a guy standing next to his car. "Exactly as I told you, to him. Okay, sweet pea?"

You slid off the counter, your stomach tying itself in knots. You walked out of the station and over the the guy the girl had pointed out.

He laughed when you relayed the message.

His girlfriend that had been sitting in the car did not. In fact, she nearly jumped out of the car, her face beet red. "What did you say?"

Your stomach did somersaults, and you found it hard to speak. "Uh.."

"Well?" the girlfriend pressed. "I will slap you if you so much as-" Her face was only inches away from your own.

"Hey!" someone called from across the parking lot. Suddenly Dallas was by your side. "What's going on over here?" He slung his arm around your shoulder, making you feel somewhat better.

The guy had put his arm in front of his girlfriend to keep her from attacking you. "Dally, you know her?"

Dally's grip on you tightened. "Yeah. She's my girl." He pointedly glared at the girl, who's anger was fading. "We got a problem here?" He glanced down at you, his expression softening.

Your heart skipped a beat. "Um, some girls in there," you gestured to the group now peering out the window at the scene, "told me to say something to him."

"What was it?" He chuckled when you whispered it in his ear. He turned to the couple. "Look, she didn't mean anything by it."

You looked at the girlfriend. "I'm really sorry."

"Come on, Riya," Dallas said, pulling you back into the gas station, where he had a very nice conversation with the girls that had put you up to it. Let's just say they wouldn't be messing with you anymore.

I'm sorry about how long this has taken me to finish! I hope you like it! Thank you so much for requesting. M'kay.
