Your POV

Tears rolled down my face as I held my boyfriend in my embrace. He was soon leaving, as he was going on the Kerberos Mission. This space exploration would take him to the opposite side of our solar system, going farther then anyone ever has. The down side to this great expedition was that he would be gone for longer than half a year.

"I wish it didn't have to be so long." I said, burying got face into Matt's shoulder.

"I didn't either, I wish I could stay here with you." He said.

"Matt... I'm happy for you, really. You get to do what you love. And Kerberos, it's amazing. I'm just going to miss you."

"The ship descending to Kerberos will launch in ten minutes."

"I guess this is it. Get up there, Matt." I looked up to the ship in front of me.

"Not just yet, I have something to say." Matt pulled something out of his pocket, it was a ring. "(Y/n), I love you so much, and as much as I would love to ask you to marry me, we are too young. So this is a promise ring, a ring to promise that when I come back, I will marry you." He paused for a moment to slip the ring on my finger. "(Y/n), you are the best thing that has happened to me. There was never a day that I didn't think of you, and there never will be. I'll think of you everyday, (y/n), I already can't wait to return for good. I'm going to miss you."

My eyes teared up at his words, I jumped into his arms, wrapping my arms around hisneck.

"I love you too." I whispered. "And I can't wait to marry you."

He smiled before leaning in and kissing my lips tenderly, I kissed back, our lips moving in sync. But our kiss got cut off as someone broadcasted another announcement.

"The flight to Kerberos leaves in five minutes."

"I guess that's my cue." He looked from the ship and back to me. "I love you so much."

"I love you too." I said.

He pressed one final quick kiss to my lips before taking off.
.
The ship would take off in a few moments. I pushed through the crowd, trying to get to the front for the best view. I got to the front just as the ship launched.

Matt's and my eyes met at the last moment. He smiled at me, wording the words 'I love you'. And I worded back 'I love you too'.

Only after the ship was completely out of view I left. I was alone, standing next to the Garrison.

I looked down at my ring, the moonlight reflecting on the small diamond, making it shine brightly in the darkness.

I looked in the direction I last saw the shuttle. I could wait until the ship would come back, appearing in the same spot seven months later.

'I love you, Matt.'
.
What I didn't know was that Matt was up in space, looking down at Earth thinking the same thing.

"I love you, (y/n)."
